Stop being silly, Tyrell. Your failure to watch the show does not create any responsbility on anyone else’s part.
You might check out Hulu, or scifi.com, to catch up on what’s been made public already before opening threads in the future that discuss exactly the things you claim not to want to know, m’kay?
Speak for yourself. I think the “as it happens” comments are a lot of the fun of these kind of threads. It’s like watching the show with dozens of your friends, all over the country.
I’m pretty sure Adama, Tigh, Roslyn and Baltar aren’t all going to die as the cliffhanger ending forebodes. But for this show, nearing it’s series finale, I’d prefer to see the story play out as the producer, Ron Moore, wants us to see it play out, rather than what the network decides to stick in a preview, which I assume Ron Moore doesn’t control. Yes, the network aired the preview, but did Ron Moore?
If Ron Moore does have complete control over what the network shows in previews, well I guess them’s the brakes. I can’t imagine RM wants us to know who lives or dies before he shows us during the show, though.
Even more pathetic than trying to spoil people with the previews after they’d specifically asked for that not to occur, you are in fact wrong. We do not know that, at all.
We don’t know that Narcho ever even attacked the Raptor. All we know is that Gaeta told someone to get Narcho on the comm with the order to attack the Raptor. No idea if there was any follow-through.
The OP said that anything that already aired is fair game. Then, later on in the thread (posts 53, 59, 60), a few people decided that since some people are treating the already-aired previews as spoilers, we should moderate our discussion to accommodate that.
I think it’s a bit of an extreme practice as well as a bit overweening for someone other than the OP to change the thread rules halfway through a long thread and expect that everyone saw it. But that’s what happened, and that’s what you’re stepping in (if you didn’t know).
Frak it, I watched the preview on SFC. Based on the preview:
B & R make it to the Basestar. Woo! But I’m not at all surprised. It says nothing about whether Narcho frakked up, or didn’t fire, or never even made it in range to stop them.
Adama is in an airlock or lauchbay with a blindfold on, Zarek has announced he’s been found guilty of treason (like I believe anything that asshole says) and Gaeta is shown saying “fire.” Well, it looks to me like Gaeta is still in the CIC and he was probably saying “fire… that jerk ensign who brought me a ham & cheese with mustard instead of mayo!”
Roslyn is frakking pissed, apparently has the backing of the Cylons, and declares, “I’m coming for all of you!” That should be fun.
Gage says “the Basestar is arming weapons!” It almost looks like I saw the Basestar jump though. I doubt Roz would let the Basestar actually destroy a Colonial ship, or much damage it.
The new policy was proposed in the middle of this thread. As I said before, I would normally disagree as being overkill, but since we’re rolling into the series finale, and preview spoilers have thus acquired greater magnitude, I considered it and found that I agreed. As such, I offered some wording, which seems to have been met with general agreement. The policy will take effect as of the next thread, but polite people may choose to observe it now.
I liked that, too. But one thing that bothered me was the fact (or maybe just the impression) that virtually all of the Marines have sided with the mutineers. I would think that they would be among the people most loyal to Adama, and, conversely, would not find Zarek or Gaeta appealing as new leaders (Zarek is a criminal; Gaeta is a smart guy and competent officer, but he’s fundamentally a techie, not a warrior). I can buy that Gaeta could recruit a small group of mutineers among the Marines, and that they could seize the CIC through careful planning and surprise. But it seems like maintaining control should have been more difficult than it apparently has been.
