Beantown mini-Dopefest, anyone?

Have a great time, folks. Wish I could make it.

Cancel it. Where are your priorities, man?

Quincy Market is one of the few places this NYC ex-pat DOES know. Count me in.

When (if ever) did the Phoenix start running The Straight DFope again? They stopped several months ago, and I haven’t seen it since. I didn’t see it in last Friday’s edition.
I have to wriggle out of something on Tuesday, but I think I can postpone it. Pepper Mill says she’s OK with it.

Really, they stopped running it? Bummer.

I guess I’ll have to wear a pink carnation or something.

Wait a sec. Are you one of them Yankees fans?

I work in friggin’ Maine, dude. Do it on a weekend and I’m there.

You don’t look well. You might be coming down with something.

On Tuesday.

Something like rectal glaucoma - I can’t see my ass coming in to work.

Maine used to be part of Mass. Suck it up, take the train, enjoy yourself.

Yeah, really. Besides, Durgin Park is in North Market. It’s not like you have to travel all the way to South Market.

It has been a couple years since i was near faneuil hall - is there a parking garage there abouts or do i suck it up and try for street parking?

And better yet, are there signs? since they started rearranging boston I am not sure I can actually find the damn plaza… :smack:

What is this . . . “street parking” . . . of which you speak?

Is that not the cutest thing you’ve ever heard? Street parking!

There are several parking garages nearby. Do remember to bring your firstborn and/or some extra limbs.

Yes, several in walking distance, all equally exorbitant.

Would it save money if you parked on the T in Alewife (red line) or Wellington Station (orange line) and took the inbound train to Downtown Crossing? Both lines are pretty quick, and Durgan Park is a pretty close walk from the station. I don’t actually drive in Boston, so I don’t know for sure, but I bet that might work.

Since I know absolutely nothing about Boston areawise, I have a horror of parking my car at some T station, and finding myself downtown with the trains stopped for th enight. I dont go anywhere I cant park my car within walking distance. Last time I was there with mrAru, we parked near a building with a fancy doorway that was like the colonial era customs office or something like that, about 2 blocks away from faneuil hall. Yes, you can find parking on the street iin Boston

I was last at DP this past December, to meet a cousin I haven’t seen since – Hmm, we last hung out together at a movie theatre in Kansas. They were playing a new film, starring unknowns like Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. I understood it was supposed to be popular.

My GF and I, wanting not to take the T, drove around until we found a parking garage. We ended up on Atlantic Ave, which I think is off of 93. We ended up at the Boston Harbor Hotel, and parked there. It was maybe a 10-15 minute walk to Quincy Market from there, although a little confusing. We had to cross Atlantic Ave (no small feat), then bear a little to the right. When we were nearly parallel to the Long Wharf Marriot, we turned left (our backs were to the Marriot) and there it was.

I think the parking cost us around $20 and a kidney.

But the neighborhood feels a little dicey, especially for a lone woman.

You can try for on-street parking, but you may find it impossible. Your best bet is the business district, maybe Broad Street or Congress Street. Very iffy, but they tend to empty after business hours, and meters turn off after 6:00.

I would love to spend some quality time with you, but trust me, I ain’t staying until after the T stops running. It shuts down around 12 or 1. I expect we’ll split up before 9:30 or so.

So, anybody want to meet at a T station?

Only main caveat is I am partially handicapped and really cant power walk anywhere … I can handle maybe a block or two if I dont try to hurry :frowning:
