Bearded Collie Dogs

I just me a gal who had the most unusual pet dog- a “Bearded Collie”. They look like and Old English Sheepdog-but smaller and with a full, long tail. The dog is very smart-she claims he can understand 35 words. My question-are these dogs tremendously rare? Can I get one at an animal shelter? Does anybody know about this breed?

Well, I punched “bearded collie” into “dogpile,” naturally and found got a bunch of hits. Here’s a couple.

That’s right,I “found got” a bunch of hits.

I have one. His names is Farley, he was born blind and he is incredibly smart and adaptable. They are excellent dogs, but one must remember with a long-haired breed there is some serious upkeep.

My uncle’s bearded collies try to herd cattle (no joke!), and try to herd the kids when it looks like they’re running out of the yard. Boisterous dogs, but they seem a bit more intelligent than the average dog.
