Beautifully artistic music videos

Oh My God by G-Idle

I’ve posted about this "Quick, what’s your current earworm? thread.

G-Idle is a Kpop group and the visuals and lyrics of this and some of their other songs, most notably Tomboy goes against the typically conservative South Korean norms.

Oh My God’s visuals are incredibly artistic and beautiful and when paired with the lyrics, paints an absolutely compelling picture! Turn on the CC for English lyrics.

Edit: I’m still reading the various interpretations of the MV and gain new insights. Two that are particularly fascinating.

Ab imo pectore (spoken towards the end and written under Minnie’s eyes) is Latin for From the bottom of my heart (lit: From the bottom of my chest) or With deep affection and attributed to Julius Caesar. abe imo pectore - Google Search

Red and purple (violet) are associated with Aphrodite Aphrodite - A goddess of beauty and love

It’s no Warm Hole, but not bad.

I’m fairly indifferent to the Red Hot Chili Peppers in general but the video for “Otherside” is a love letter to German expressionism and films like The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. Very nicely done.

I am, however, a big fan of Cyriak Harris as a visual artist. And while he often (indeed usually) leans into extreme grotesquery, his video for “Yellow Bridges” by El Ten Eleven is a lovely thing:

Take On Me? It’s one of the greatest music videos ever made.

Godley & Creme’s “Cry.” It’s from 1985, before computer “morphing” of images was really available, so all of the changes from face to face were done with traditional film editing techniques (dissolves and wipes).
