Well?
I thought that the geek makeovers were really bad. I don’t know anybody’s name on this show, so bear with me.
What on earth were they doing giving that one guy bleached hair? It’s not 1997. It looked horrible. And while it’s not offensive on principle like the peroxide, why make the other guy a redhead? It simply didn’t look good on him, and the color looked very unnatrual overall. And on the note of that guy - why not give him some skin-care tips? I’m not a big fan of the unecessary male waxing, either (the guy’s shoulers? Yeah, definitely; but his entire chest?).
I also thought that almost everyone’s clothes fit poorly. Wouldn’t their measurements have been taken for something like this? And if they’re going for hipness, why not put them in the tight clothes that are actually popular right now?
The only guy makeover I liked was the one with the thick glasses and huge nose, and even then they unecessarily made his hair look stupid. Still, he pulled off the outfit well, and someone with his look can actually pull off the current hipster styles really well.
I did think that the girl geek looked very pretty after her makeover.
Er, also, did they actually have to carry on conversations with high schoolers during the prom challenge? Yikes…
Being a math teacher, the arithmetic lessons really irked me. Specifically, they kept referring to fractions in their “lowest common denominator” when they really meant “in simplest form”. This was such a basic error that I can’t believe it got into the show.
Yeah, DoperChic. That irked me as well.
BTW, Nicole looked hot. And I mean really, really hot. Smokingly hot.
Nicole looked amazing indeed. And John was probably the best male makeover I’ve ever seen. The difference was astounding.
Considering the starting point, Joshua’s and David’s makeover were pretty good. Nicole’s was the least change of any of them, but she did look pretty good.
I really liked Joshua’s makeover, because it took a really not-so-hot guy and turned him into someone much better-looking, while still fitting his character. In the last seasons, they sometimes put the geeks into clothing that looked good for the one show, but obviously were either uncomfortable or made them look strangely out of place in later episodes.
Joshua’s makeover seemed like it was easy to carry over to real life, the clothes he wore for the elimination ceremony also looked pretty stylish. In the same vein, I’d have preferred Nicole to be made over without putting her in an evening gown…it’s supposed to be an improvement for everyday life, and you’re not going to the prom that often.
I generally liked the new hair styles much better, even the bleached hair. And I grudgingly admit that even the LARPer (quick, somebody roll the 20sided dice of death) looked OK.
Well, I am still rooting for Joshua and Shay. He seems to be an (if somewhat clueless) sweetheart and she really tries to improve him, and on the other hand listens to what he has to say. They seem to be bonding really well and actually learning things off each other is what this show is supposed to be about (well, it’s really about the ratings and the fact that Ashton Kutcher can afford a new swimming pool, but you know what I mean).
I do like my reality to be productive - I hate drama, scheming and backstabbing (no Survivor for me!), which made me really glad that Rebecca and Will left in the last episode; it seems to have toned down the drama factor somewhat.
I really thought Sam nailed the teaching challenge…but he is an actor, so I would expect him to fake it nicely.
And yeah, Nicole, I always thought she was rather attractive, so I wasn’t surprised at all. She has an annoying habit of talking down her nose during the interviews…not in a snobbish way, it’s just how she sits. It’s weird. The LARPer guy does it, too.
I, too, noticed that half the guys were positively swimming in their outfits.
I was a bit depressed that the high schoolers voted the most attractive geek as their Homecoming King. Way to remind the geeks why they hated high school.
I was confused why they made one couple stay home. Was it because they didn’t want Sam ruining it for the others? BTW, I noticed in next week’s promos that he said, “But I’m incredibly good looking.” or something like that. Can someone clue him in that he’s NOT incredibly good looking?
I also don’t find the really tall cigar model to be attractive either. She’s very masculine IMO and not all that nice either.
Sam couldn’t go unless a guy asked him, and that wasn’t going to happen. So they dealt with it preemptively.
Oh, good. I was hoping that I wasn’t the only one who can’t stand that guy. He really creeps me out…
I shall embrace your criticism, and from it be edified.
