I admit it. I love the show, “Beauty and the Geek”. When I first saw the title I was turned off, but one evening with a missing remote led me to watch the show and I’ve been a follower ever since. The changes made by both the geeks and the beauties really charmed me.
I tried to find a thread for this and didn’t - if this is a duplicate, please forgive me.
This season I’m rooting for both Jasmine and Nicole - I’m pretty neutral about the guys right now - just happy that Will is out since he was so full of himself.
I so want to see Sam, the “beauty” guy, leave the show. Okay, so he’s shown that he tends to do well in the competitions, and that he’s not as dumb as the other beauties. He seems like a real tool though, and quite inconsiderate toward his partner.
Also, I find myself completely unthrilled about his relationship with the lovely Rebecca. I thought the romance between that couple from last season (what were their names again) was sweet and utterly genuine. By all indications though – and of course, I’m only judging based on what we’ve seen – the attraction between him and Rebecca seems to be shallow and completely hormone-driven. I realize that this may be partly due to editing, but it’s awfully hard to escape that impression.
For this reason, I wasn’t disappointed to see Rebecca leave. She was nice eye candy – probably the best-looking gal on the show – but her shallowness really grated on my nerves. I’d love to see Sam go as well, for the same reason.
BTW, I like Jesse. He just seems like a decent sort of fellow.
I love this show! Looking forward to the geek makeovers next week. I was pleasantly surprised last season to find that upon receiving their makeovers, Scooter and the guy in the Star Wars tribute band were both really cute.
I thought I would hate Sam (is that his name? The male beauty?) but I don’t. He isn’t a complete idiot. He isn’t geek level smart but he certainly isn’t as air-headed as a few of the beauties (for instance, the girl that seems to have a major distaste for reading. Nice girl, but come on!). He isn’t a complete ass hole either. He has priorities that are decidedly different than the geeks, but he hasn’t ridden them like I thought he would when I initially saw him.
Sam, not an a**hole? Well, we could debate the use of that particular term; hoever, I think that making out late at night in a bunkbed with your teammate below you is a bit inconsiderate, to say the least – especially since that teammate asked him to let her know if they needed the room.
Crying about it was a bit over the top, I’ll admit. Still, I don’t blame her for feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
In res at university I can remember about 15 specific incidents where this happened on our floor alone. He probably thought, I’ll be quiet and she’ll never know. He figured it wouldn’t be such a big deal and at most it’d make for a bit of an awkward breakfast and some ribbing.
Yeah, probably a bit thoughtless but he wasn’t deliberately trying to mess with his partner.
As mentioned in the linked thread, I think Sam and Nicole are both ringers. It makes a lot of sense to me, to have them both planted in the show and stirring things up without actually being real contenders.
We missed taping last night - so, Will and Rebecca kicked off, eh? Too bad. I really wanted to see the makeovers; I guess I’ll see the results next week.
Was anyone else surprised that Rebecca and Will both mentioned they thought Sam had set them up by putting them against William and Jen? It didn’t occur to them that Nicole was the mastermind of that?
I had just assumed that Sam was gay at first. Huh. Shows what I know.
I agree that Rebecca was easily the most attractive girl this season in my opinion, but I was still rooting for her to leave last night. It just seemed to defeat the purpose of the show to just get it on with another “beauty” the entire time. It will be interesting to see how Sam acts now that she is gone.
He does seem very shallow. That’s precisely why I don’t like him.
Last season’s couple, Nate and Jennylee, gradually got to know each other before they started locking lips – and they did so sweetly and tenderly. Sam moved in almost before the starting gun went off. And of course, there was that whole incident with Nicole and the bunk bed. He’s darned shallow.
BTW, it’s one thing to do that in one’s private life. If you do that sort of thing while participating in an internationally televised social experiment, though… that just incredibly poor judgment.
