roughly - it means I need LOTS of coffee
Dammit, I’m having a bad case of The Drops today. I think I know why–too much news about gas prices and all that stuff is swirling around in the back of my head and making me nervous about where I’m at right now and how I can maintain this summer. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I really hate The Drops. I guess this means it’s time to turn off NPR in the car and start listening to CDs and tapes and whatever’s on the radio that’s not endless commercials.
In similar car news: There’s a major intersection at the end of my street where the highway meets the city limits. Usually there is a line of cars about the time I leave the house to get to work (7:30), but today it stretched beyond the first curve in the road, which is highly unusual. As I made my way up the street I saw flashing lights across the intersection. Got a little closer and saw a truck overturned. When I got up to the light and was waiting for the guy in front of me to turn I saw piles of gravel around the truck. Looked like the driver tried to take the turn too fast and found out why we don’t do that.
And that’s why I was slightly late to work this morning.
Morning. I’m trying to be grumpy, but it’s a beautiful day. Supposed to rain later. Bleh.
What am I missing on my grocery list?
Apparently.
I awoke to an unscorched kitchen rug (?). I did pour cold water on it ASAP–not sure why that would have worked the way it did, but I’m happy. It’s a large area rug that was not cheap, so all’s good now.
Dotty–he can’t take scuba down there w/o getting a medical from an Aussie doctor. This way is cheaper, but harder on mom (welcome to motherhood, the taller version).
Spaz–I deliberately turn off NPR about once a week and just listen to CDs. I find I am more sane that way. Afterall, most of what we hear about is beyond our control or impact and it’s never good news–who wouldn’t get depressed after a bit?
I am still as grumpy today as I was 4 days ago. I hate everyone in varying degrees, so get out of my way and leave me alone (unless I don’t want you to).
The weather is not reflecting my bad mood–it’s a perfect day out there. The nerve.
Morning mumpers. It’s laundry day. I’m going to get plates on the car, also.
Cat pics:
Hugs and coffee for everyone! I’ll try to stay caught up today.
I’ve got** Dotty’s ** Mexican Lasagna in the oven right now! Ok, so I’m lazy and I made a few changes, also substitutions for stuff I didn’t have on hand. But, it looks good and we might even be able to offer it as a new lunch item!!! Yes, I will call it **Dotty’s ** Mexican Lasagna on the menu, too.
Thanks, doggio. Now I want another cat. That kitten is so cute!
I want a Munchkin. Mr. Lissar thinks they’re evil and wrong and mutant.
That reminds me- I’m trying to talk Other Quasi-Daughter out of getting a cat. They already have a large, bouncy dog, a baby on the way, and a small apartment. And she’s prone to hysterics and stress beofre the kid arrives. Dealing with a kitten, a baby, and the dog, will send… well, probably all her friends… over the brink. A really really large, really really bouncy dog.
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Kittypuppysnuggleswanttosquishthemintopiecessqueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Damn you, doggio. That’s more cuteness than I can process this early in the morning.
Nava, we have a couple of those Space Invaders tile designs here in Toronto, too. They’re pretty keen. I had thought they were a local thing until I spotted one in Barcelona a couple of years ago… it made me homesick. Sniff.
Why won’t this stoopid cough go away, dammit? I sound like a 60-yr old chain smoking gramma.
**Swampy ** I read that as “Naked brekkies.” I think I need more sleep.
I work today 1-10. I’m tired and don’t wanna go to work. Is it Firday yet?
I want a dog now. To play with my kitty. They look so cute together!
Will be back after caffiene consumption.
Last night spooky (cat) hopped up on the couch with Daisy (dog) and me (human) for some serious cuddle time.
Spooky snuggled right up to Daisy, rubbing his face in her fur and licking Daisy’s ear. Daisy did a few playful nips (just laid teeth on him, like she’d do to a puppy, all friendly-like) and they both snuggled close, closed their eyes and fell asleep.
Talk about your “squeeee” moments.
mornin’ all. I am baaack! LOL.
I usually only Dope at work, so when I started new job, I didn’t have computer access for just over a week. UGH. That’s after them turning it off early from the last job. Then I was training for much of a week at someone else’s desk, so still no dope.
But, now it seems to be good. I haven’t read the MMP for a couple of weeks, so I mostly have no idea what’s been happening. I definately don’t want to deal with people today. New job includes a lot of processing invoices, which isn’t too bad, just repetitive. The people in the accounts payable department suck though. ARG
Rigs I’m jealous of your son! I was SCUBA certified in HS, and have always wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef. I haven’t been anywhere exciting yet, but someday. By then I’ll need a refresher course on the dive stuff though.
I think it’s probably a good thing that I can’t view Nat’s video from work, or people would be smacking me with a wet trout as well. That’s one thing I miss about Illinois. I have a large prolific family, so there were always kids around to borrow for awhile. It helps keep the hormones in check. I mean, I like kids, but I don’t want my own yet…Kids are $$$$$.
Um…I’m sure I’ll think of more later, but more work right now.
KITTY! Soooooo cute!
Busy at work and counting down the hours until we leave for our long weekend in Chicago tomorrow night. Yay!
Except that I’ve got to do laundry, pack, make dindin, and pick up a prescription and some trip snacks all before we leave directly after work tomorrow. Yikes!
Haiku requests for the next hour!
The dog is barking
Yes, I open the glass door.
The neighbors rejoice
I really want sleep
Killing time here sort of helps
My room is a mess
We have picked our rings
Will the god-freaks screw it up?
Wait till November
Orange kitteh sleeps
On patient sofa doggie
OMG, so cute!
Rain again today
In Oregon it’s normal
But still do not want
Steaming in my cup
Elixir of Consciousness
Ah, sip, brain wakes up
Yowling cat at door
Always wants to go outside
Tough shit, cat, shut up!
I can’t write haiku
I always get the sylla

I’ll wait till you people are all finished Turning Japanese.
Or not.
