Up and off to work.
Nava, I’m keeping your cousin in my prayers.
Up and off to work.
Nava, I’m keeping your cousin in my prayers.
Blurf. Thank Og it’s Firday.
My sympathy to all that have their Firdays toe-ma-rree.
Did a little more planting in my garden last night. More maters, plus the first row of sweet corn, and 2 rows of greenie beenies. I wanted to plant sunflahrs, too, but the variety I bought has seeds too small to be humanly edible. On the list for this weekend are okra, carrots, radishes, pickling cucumbers, and watermelon.
And a flahrbed full of wildflahrs to attract hummingbirds.
No rest for the wicked, VWife has a long list of honeydews with my name on it. It’s going to be tough finding time to go “Here fishy fishy fishy…”
I’m doing a pot roast in the slow cooker, too! GMTA.
I browned the roast, added NOT, carrots and onions - and poured some cabernet, chicken broth, and french onion soup all over it. All at 5:00 am.
I’m about caffeined out - time to eat something.
And maybe work a little.
Speaking of N. O. T.s, have any of you gardening types had decent luck planting N. O. T.s that you started from one that sprouted eyes while it was waiting for the pot or skillet? I have all the room in the world to plant stuff, and I thought growing N. O. T.s might be kinda fun.
My gramma used to plant N.O.T in the backyard back when I was a kid. The trick, IIRC, was to let the potato sprout a bit and then cut it up in such a way that each sprouted eye was on its own piece. She’d just plant the potato chunks in the ground and let ‘em do their own thing. About as low-maintenance as it gets, really, and always done with plain ol’ supermarket N.O.T.
Gramma’s got one heck of a green thumb, though, so I can’t say the above would work for just anyone.
It’s Firday for me as well! Tomorrow Jade goes in for her bumpectomies. Poor thing can’t have any food after 8 pm tonight. She will be incensed tomorrow morning when no biscuits are forthcoming. Luckily I take her in to the vets at 7:30 am.
Mmmmm, pot roast. Now I’m jonesing for some.
Hugs for all who need them. Feel better all sickies.
haze, just don’t go all Carly O’Brien when you get married.
We are finally supposed to get some rain here in Fireduh. Yay!
Tupug
Okay, I’m going to make a dress out of cheap t-shirts from the discount store. It’ll be empire waist and short, and probably burgundy. I’m trying to think of breastfeeding-friendly (low stretchy neck) designs. Pics of cute short dresses from the friendly fashion-concious MMPers? (I’m looking at you, Haze)
Can I show pics of my nieces and nephew? These were taken on Mother’s Day. The kids were all dressed up (except Jacob) and I had to snap a few pictures! Linky to my Flickr! Account. For those of you not familar with Flickr, you can click on the thumbnails to see them bigger.
I’m working today. Money is a good thing. Oh and I had a latte today! Best of all it was free! MMMMMMM. Since I don’t have caffeine often at all, I’m feeling a bit hyper.
He probably said something about cock-blocking. I know I would!
I saw a picture of the guys controlling the penis-copter, but I don’t remember where.
doggio, when did the orange fluff come into the picture? Methinks me missed something last week…
The end of Movie Night is nigh. I think next week will be the last one before the Hosts move.
Got to play some more Wii Mario Kart (otherwise known as “Don’t worry guys, Spaz will hold 12th place for you!”) and updated everyone on my stalker situation.
Yep. Someone’s stalkin’ the Spaz. Time for some related MySpace drama.
Puggy, that would be a nicer dress if it a) it weren’t so ostentatious and b) there wasn’t a skank inside of it.
Holy crap. People are weird.
gotti, you should throw two bouquets and supply a mud pit for your guests - they can wrestle each other for them. It’s brilliant!
LiLi, you’ve actually reminded me of a dress I bought last summer. I’ll take a picture and upload it later today.
But first, coffee.
OOh… I love reconstructed t-shirt dresses. I still need to get off my butt and make one out of the XL I (Heart) New York tee I bought last time I went to NYC.
How about this one? Or maybe adding a halter to this little strapless number?
This one has a criss-cross front and tie straps, which I’d imagine would be easy for nursing. And I’m seriously pondering making my own version ofthis one.
And if you need extra-crafty inspiration: Tutorials! …and even more tutorials!!
(why yes, it is a slow day at work)
Ooh, those are cute. I’m not skinny enough for the second one, though. Crafster is a lot of fun, isn’t it? Except for the spelling.
I have four or five t-shirt dresses I’m trying to redo so I can nurse in them, and I’m just getting impatient and want to make something new. Definitely thinking about the first and third.
Mahna (yes, the kid has been asleep for two hours, thus frequent posting) do you think it’s possible to make a Vionnet-style dress out of t-shirts that you can breastfeed in?
Morning, all. I am home, but full of aaargh! today. Our flight last night was over an hour late, and we got stuck with the row right in front of the exit row with NO legroom – they took an extra six inches for the exit row, leaving us with our knees up our nostrils. Then it took nearly another hour to get our bags and get home.
And then we got home to discover that our router is half-fried – we can connect wirelessly, but the wired desktops are completely SOL. So after an hour waiting for tech support, followed by another 45 minutes of repeating everything Papa Tigs had already done to prove it was half-fried, they finally agreed we need a new router. Which they said we’ll get today. I sure hope nobody comes to the house to deliver it; I refuse to get out of my pajamas today, no matter what!!
Anyway, I’m home, but can’t show you pictures since my photo software is on my desktop. Plus you have to wait for Monday’s MMP anyway.
Nava, I just read online about your cousin – how scary for everyone. Good thoughts headed towards Annapurna to let him get down safely and recover!
Don’t get me started on stupid Social Security, kai – when my sister was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and promptly became unable to keep a job because nobody wanted to hire her for some reason after she got laid off, it still took two full years for Social Security to admit she might need disability. Duh-hey! So they are on my List now.
I know there was other stuff I meant to comment on, but I’m totally brain-dead today so will think of it later, I guess. Or not. I dunno, I’m really out of it – I hate flying! Airports are lousy, airplanes are lousier. My knee got so stiff I could barely walk off the plane thanks to spending 3 hours with the seatbelt light lit, unable to even stand up between Boise and Minneapolis. Have I mentioned I hate flying?
Those t-shirt dresses are very cute, the gigantic wedding mess not so much–WTF gets into people when a wedding is in the offing?
Flutters, I am moved by your yarnless plight–may I offer you a bounty of Malemute fur that can be spun into wonderful, cold proof yarn? It’s a little stinky but it would be such a fun project for you! Really, you should totally do it… this is not self serving, not at all… ![]()
Kai, I could easily knit you a whole bunch of them little dogs from shed SpaceFur!
Know what, gotti? Once the wedding industry twigs to the fact that SSM means a whole new category of specialty weddings NOBODY will be able to rescind it–the lobbyists would go nutz. I think this is what you’d call a “mixed blessing.” Equal marriage rights are a very good thing, expanded wedding madness on the other hand, not so much. The next few years should be interesting.
Cute kids, McUne!
VBob, you should try growing potatoes in straw. I’ve tried it a couple times and it’s pretty cool.
Nava, nashii, good thoughts for your relatives!
So I got up this morning and found out Himself forgot to put down the auxiliary nighttime cat box last night (Stiggs is crotchety, won’t use the existing cat box and for some reason will no longer meow to go out) and there was a lovely puddle on the rug in front of the toilet, right where my feet would be if I hadn’t spotted it. Luckily, it was the light sage rug so it showed up–the dark purple rug camouflages perfectly until it’s too late. So now I have the rugs in the wash and I can’t take a shower until they’re dry unless I want to completely change the linens in the bathroom and I DON’T WANNA! So Himself can grump all he likes because he was awakened by my phone in the bedroom, since I win the Significant Other Annoyance Sweepstakes–cat pee trumps annoying ring tone by a long shot!
Ooh, dominoes! I haven’t found anyone to play with for years–I used to have a boyfriend who loved it and we’d sit up until the wee hours playing. Double twelves are HARD! I should teach the Grandkid to play, it’ll really help his mental math skills.
I like that diet, nooner, too bad it doesn’t work…
S’okay, rigs, sympathy for grumping is what the MMP is all about–hope you’re feeling better today. {{{rigsy}}}
Greetings all. M2 those dresses are so cute! I wonder if Hawkeyeop would let me :ahem: modify some of his t-shirts…
I’m off to see about lunch.
Yeah, that looks like my dress. Mine plunges a bit deeper, but the basic design is the same.
Nava, I hope your cousin is okay.
I made the breakfast potatoes and apricot bars off of Ree’s website: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/category/brunch/ . They were good.
LiLi, if you mean the Vionnet handkerchief dress we both made copies of back in HS, then I’d be inclined to say yes - the ties at the shoulder would make it convenient at feeding time, and if memory serves, they’re wide enough to camouflage the horrendous thick straps on nursing bras.
Won’t be as floaty when made of t-shirts, but who cares?
I wish I could this with some of The Boy’s old t-shirts, but he’s a size small. He also wears a smaller pants size than I do, which causes me no end of jealousy. Sniff.
Welcome home, Mama Tigs!
Smartypants, I think you’re right on the money (tee hee). We’ve had a Gay and Lesbian Wedding Show in Toronto for the past 4 years. Legal same-sex marriages have been around for ummm… 4.5 years. Hey, given that same-sex couples are more likely that hetero to have plenty o’ disposable income and willingness to spend, I’ll bet that plenty of vendors in Cali have been finalising designs of double-groom cake toppers for the past few months in anticipation of the ruling.
Evening all. Carrie Jr came back for bedtime tonight - I think it’s more to do with when HRH has dinner than what she has for dinner. Sometimes (like today), hubby doesn’t feel like bringing HRH home for her dinner at 5pm like he should and instead just sits at his parents’ house with her until nearly 6pm (when I get home). That way, he can hand her off to me and bugger off with minimal effort/child-minding on his part. Unfortunately, this means that the little one has dinner and bedtime milk within the space of about 30 minutes, which is apparently not to her liking (digestively speaking). So she gets grumpy, throws up all over herself and her bedding and then won’t settle down for another hour! Sigh … I am really really tired! Beer never tasted so good as it does right now!
Welcome home, MT!
Nava, I forgot to mention it before, but I am praying for your cousin and his friends.
I’ma go sit on the sofa and vegetate now. Ciao!
AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!! Today is just ogawful! Y’all remember my next door neighbor who has alzheimer’s? Well, since I was home today and the neighbor across the road who usually takes him to his day program had a doctor’s appointment and was worried he wouldn’t be able to get back in time to take neighbor, I volunteered. No biggie. I’ve done it several times. It’s what neighbors do. Well, his wife is at work and gets a call about how the place won’t be opened today because they got robbed last night. What kind of lowlife scum would rob a place like that! So, neighbor has been at da cave all day. His wife gets off work soon and I gotta say… I can’t wait. I cannot even begin to imagine takin’ care of someone with AD all day long. The five hours he’s been over here have made me bonkers. Right now he’s in the livin’ room in a recliner nappin’. Hooray!!! He has asked me a bazillion times when he’s goin’ to work (what he calls his day program). Of course he can’t understand the reason why he’s not there, poor guy. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! Oh and if that wasn’t enough, JoeDawg decided to puke on the comforter I have on the couch for him, so I got to wash and dry a bigass comforter. Plus attempt to get some work done. That ain’t exactly happenin’.
Ok, let me get back before the neighbor wakes up and does og only knows what. I know he can’t help any of this but… AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!
