Beckdawrek is bad, bad, bad and nearly dies. (Or how a Doper saved my life)

Such an amazing story. Thanks for dropzone for not dropping the ball on this one, and I am so glad beck is still with the Dope.

As if I would! Um, it took me a while of hemming and hawing before I made the call (beck is a friend but Mr Wrekker is a heavily armed hunter who might misunderstand  ) so there was always a chance that I’d drop the ball. :o

Oh, Lord! Thank God for friends!!

Whew! Close call! Glad you are still with us Beckdawrek! (Are you sure that the cats weren’t involved?)

And kudos to dropzone for being on the ball!

I’m very, very, very glad he was able to do that.

Being on low to no sleep is the kind of situation which makes anybody’s sugar drop. For a diabetic yep, it means being extra careful.

Did I say I’m very, very, very glad you’re ok?

I would have mistaken that for Tuesday.

It being Tuesday (“if it’s a day that ends in ‘day’ drop must be typing gibberish”) I thought she was making fun of me.

dropzone

A better superhero than Frozone!

(No capes!)

I’m ok. My doctor took blood and said it was a very close call. And to thank the persons involved profusely. Which I have (I hope).
I can’t believe, I mean, really it’s impossible to fathom how people can help others so far away. Literally, my life was saved by a person several states away. I’ve wakened to a new world, truly. I am grateful I have found the SD. It’s a fun place. A outlet for my craziness. And now I owe my life to Dropzone and the Dope. Thanks all for your well wishes. Now to the drawing board. ‘How to teach cats not to eat my corpse, if I die’, this make take awhile.
Love you all!

Power: teleports any objects including living beings 100ft in any direction (limitation: line of sight). Owns telephone. Knows how to figure out people’s locations by triangulation of local news items

No teleportation, it’s not my phone. I’m waiting for the bill for a call to Arkansas. I’ll deny it.

“But you later received a call from the same number.”

“Wasn’t for me. It was for ***David ***Mylastname.”

And thanks, all, but the thread is about Becky and y’all are embarrassing me. :o

One last thing: Yes, I did code switch into Southern American English the moment I heard the dispatcher.

You totally fucking rock!

Yeah, he does!

I do that when speaking to someone with a regional accent.

If this doesn’t qualify for Threadspotting…

Thank you, Drop. Glad to see you’re back to (ab)normal Beck! This story is so 'redible!

Way to go, dropzone, and glad to hear you’re doing okay now, Beckdawrek. Given the stories you’ve told about your cats in the past, I wouldn’t worry about teaching them not to eat your corpse, make sure you teach them not to start noshing while you’re still alive.

A lot of people would have found a way of convincing themselves Beck was or would be OK and wouldn’t have taken the measures you did to get help to our Becks. Thanks,** dropzone**, for taking the initiative. Good thinking!

Beckdawrek, I’m concerned that this came on so suddenly. I understand why, but what safeguards do you have in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again, maybe when you’re alone and offline? We can’t do without you here.

Also, have to say I guffawed over “Tell the Dope I’m all right!” confusion. I wonder which dope she thought you were referring to?

I do have safeguards. I have a panic button and of course a phone. I keep a glucose rescue kit. Everyone knows how to use it. Y’all may know I’m a recent (well 1year and 1/2) empty nester. I’m alone more. We are adjusting things. My Son and DIL who live closest, check in everyday, several times. I have been stable for a long, long time. I think we had grown complacent. I will, I promise, redouble my efforts.
My DIL is still trying to figure out who the ‘dope’ is. It’s hilarious.

Thing is, I used to speak it semi-naturally. Well, a bit of it and a bit of Clarice Starling, which I tried to avoid because it’s so hillbilly.

I have to tell y’all what the sheriffs deputy said. He said “A very, very concerned individual ‘insisted’ we do a well check on you” They were not sure because he was from out of state and had no address for me. My name got them pointed in the right direction. One deputy who knows my Son put 2 and 2 together. They called his house and my courageous DIL came to me. She has never given a shot or poked a finger. She is totally freaked about the whole thing. I bet she’s called me, at least, 30 times since yesterday.
