Oh. I need a blood sugar dog. Hmmmm? Another pet. Wonder where you get one?
And don’t let Dropzone fool you. He was such the hero. Even the Sheriff deputy said it. They had just enough to go on. Nobody I know would have went that far IRL, let alone from a vague email. It was not bullshit to me. He’s just gonna have to wear his laurals, whether he likes or not. ;), so there!
Fine. Whatever. Can I go back to designing my carport enclosure so I can let the dogs out without running off? They run for about a mile around the park until the girls find some teen girls to hang with and Wrigley finds a cop car or Animal Control car to jump into.
Homework: My name is Mike, I live in the town where the Unabomber’s mom lived, I live across from a park that’s about a mile around, and I have a dog that looks like a miniature (40#) English Sheepdog who loves cops. I’m in the white pages. PM my name and address.
What state is Cloud Cuckoo-land in? It dont matter where you. It’s truly a small world after-all.
Plus, you are now famous in a small County in S.Arkansas. and you’re tops in my book.
Beck, I’m so glad you recovered from this! And nice going, dropzone, way to go. I’m glad you’re a busybody with a phone.
My wife is Type 1 and has a setup that might help you, Beck. She has a continuous glucose monitor, and on her smart phone she gets readouts from that CGM over Bluetooth. And I also get her glucose levels on my phone over a cell signal, no matter where I am in the world as long as she and I have cell reception. Sounds like needscoffee’s friend has something like that too. I set hi and low alerts on my phone’s app, and it alarms me when she is hi or low.
It is great technology and it does work. Not sure why your doc isn’t crazy about them, it might be because s/he would have to do extra paperwork for you to get it — my guess. One night I was out of town and my wife was home alone. My phone alerted and from 200 miles away I could see she was crashing. I called 911 and explained the situation and the dispatcher contacted paramedics at home. I gave them verbal authorization to break in (no response to door knocking / doorbell). They found her unconscious and I told them to check her blood sugar level. They immediately treated for that and she came to. They took her to the E.R. for just in case, and I drove home immediately. I got there in time to take her home without her needing to be admitted. She was fine.
So it’s a similar scenario as yours, Beck, and I recommend you be more insistent with your doc and that you check it out. The manufacturer of the CGM and the phone apps we have is Dexcom, https://www.dexcom.com.
With that CGM setup, I can wake in the middle of the night and she’s asleep beside me, and I can check my phone and know her blood sugar level.
So glad you are okay!
My wife’s doc told me that some people tend to become more ‘hypo-glycemic unaware’ — his term. Tell that to your hubby, this is not your fault.
Might just be my Doc didn’t want to get into it that day. He was treating me in a semi-alarmed state. We will talk Monday. My kids and Mr.Wrekker want it on me yesterday. So it looks like that’s what it’s gonna take to shut them up.
Truth be told, this has scared me too. I seem to be back where I was. But I thought that before this happened. So I’m second guessing and double checking. I’m kinda OCD about things, anyway. I don’t need another reason.
Happy to help, and I hope you get one. I highly recommend it!
We’ve been married for 16+ years, and in that time she has crashed several times and I’ve had to administer a glucagon injection 19x. I know the exact number because I actually chart her incidents (I’m an engineer, I rely on the data). Ever since she had her CGM and especially her Dexcom G6 setup, her blood sugars have been very well controlled.
MamaZappa told me this story last night; don’t know how I missed the thread. Just had to come say “Way to go, Dropzone!” I’m so glad you were on the stick and found the right people to help.
Becks, I’m so glad you’re still with us. I really look forward to your posts. And even though your kids have moved out they still need you, and always will.
Thanks. You guys are so nice to me. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to know folks have my back. I get my CGM, next week. And then everyone will be notified if I have a glucose problem. I need everyone’s cell number so I can put y’all down for it.
I remember this so well (not nearly as well as you, of course). I was so impressed that he’d taken the situation in hand under such unlikely circumstances. I can’t help thinking he’s going to continue his Neighborhood Watch over you from wherever he is now.
