I’m eating the (1/2 lb!) beef and potato burrito from Taco Bell.
It’s…interesting.
The potatoes are chunked into squares and spiced up similarly to curly fries, the meat’s the same ol taco bell stuff. There’s a bit of sour cream, I requested the chivy/green onion thingies be left off mine, there might be a bit of cheese involved, but it’s sorta hard to identify everything in a burrito.
I’m just confused, I thought we were supposed to be thinking outside the bun and spicing up our nights with something other than burgers and fries, then they go and give us a pretend burger and fries?
I’m not sure where to place this on my 5 star system…it’s taco bell, with enough hot sauce everything from there’s edible, eh?
Using papas as filler/extender is a very tex-mex thing to do. I’m surprised it took so long for the fast fooders to catch on.
Here in El Paso, most “picadillo” (ground beef) burritos come with potato bits.
Just about anything that’s edible has graced the interior of a burrito. One favorite is “burrito de papas y güini” (potato and chopped hot dog).
Yep. You can find chunked potato on burritos at a lot of small stands around here. Fairly filling, and as noted, with enough hot sauce styrofoam is edible.
Not “burrito de papas y perros caliente”? Whatcha all think they make them chee-hoo-uh-hoo-uhs fer?
There’s a place in Bellingham called Casa Que Pasa that’s locally famous for its potatoo burritos.
Yes, but are they as good at potato burritos?
I’d been waiting for 15 years for Taco Bell to bring back this burrito. Of course back then it was actually a STEAK and potato burrito, but this is the next best thing. In fact, I was just swallowing the last bite of one when I saw this thread. My second beef/potato burrito this week. I love love love em!

Works for the other end of North America, too. I’ve made some very tasty Canadian pork pies in which the filling is chopped meat sauteed with potatoes and vegetables.
Taco John’s (midwest only, maybe?) has had these for years. Their potatoes are more like tater tots. So tasty.
My father was supervising a very large number of recent Mexican immigrants when he was working at a local landscaping company. They would bring breakfast for everyone in the morning and there were always potatoes in just about everything.
