Been getting any interesting campaign literature?

I’ve been getting tons of this stuff, mostly pretty run of the mill - with the exception of the gubenatorial candidates’ mudfest.

But I got one tonight the likes of which I can’t recall. Debra Danburg has been my (Democrat) State Representative for ~14-16 years now and, considering that I know next to nothing about her opponent, I would have thought she was a shoo-in.

What awaited me in the mailbox tonight says, “Lots of Republicans like Debra Danburg!” and features a photo of her and Dubya cheek-to-cheek beaming at the camera. Interesting.

What’re they attempting to catch your eye with?

Oh yeah.

There’s this INTERESTING guy who walks the streets of Tucson in a dress who is running for Senate. His campaign lit is part Holocaust denial, part Who Really Killed JFK, and part ramblings about breach babies.

Interesting for sure.

Any chance of winng? 'Fraid not.

Well, this is a first for me.

I got a taped message from Jean Carnahan here in Missouri and she said :
“Press 1 if you want a ride to the polls”. “Press 2 if you don’t”

Interactive campaign calls? Anyone else get those?

A friend of mine who votes by absentee ballot in Alaska got some camapign lit from a Republican candidate that focused mainly on the fact that the Democratic candidate opposed giving handouts to the oil companies to help them lobby for opening the ANWR.

He burned it.

I just got a call on my internet answering from Jimmy Buffett! He was requesting my vote for his favorite in the Alabama Governor’s race. “Friend of the environment, etc., etc.”

Maybe I would have been more swayed if he had sung a line or two from “Margaritaville”?

Well, I already voted by absentee ballot, so I’m just trashing all the mailouts that are coming in. However, there was one unique thing on my ballot (I’m in Florida). One of the proposed constitutional amendments is about pregnant pigs – they want to rule that no person may confine a pregnant pig in a cage.

Regardless of any feelings on animal issues… does this really need to be a constitutional amendment?? Who thinks this crap up?

Gosh I hope we don’t have any recounts on this one… I don’t think I could stand hearing about pregnant chads for pregnant pigs…

Did he pour gasoline on it first?

I haven’t got any interesting mailings. I’m not in California, but I found this anti- Gray Davis website to be the funniest, most well-done albeit negative campaign ad I’ve ever seen.

If I had not made up my mind to vote for the Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, the Republican’s literature would have convinced me to. Or was it the race for Governor? It is all beginning to look and sound alike to me.

This current batch of Republicans in our state are either willing to shoot entirely straight on how far right they are OR they don’t know enough to soften their stance OR they got their mailing lists confused. In one day’s time I got pro-IRA and anti-Choice mail from them.

I’m somewhere to the left of Trotsky.
