It’s not really that fascinating. Double consonants are a pain in the ass and usually don’t make sense in English.
Edit: Anyone who cares can feel free to recount, but I got 8 correct spellings and 3 misspellings among those who voted for Guinness. Hardly “most.”

Seems you know my own opinion better than I do.
And I counted 4 out of 8. I guess that doesn’t qualify as “most”.

I can’t beleive so many people are voting for Yuengling over Guinness. I expected this round to be a massacre.

A lot of people just don’t like stouts. I have a number of friends who look at me funny when I order Guinness, saying “how can you drink that dark shit?” The amusing thing is, Guinness is rather light and mild in the wide world of stouts.

Yuengling was my college drink of choice, and it’s a guaranteed option at every bar around here that I know will be decent (-You- try ordering a Guinness at a redneck bar!)
Plus, it’s a beer that you can drink after mowing the lawn. That’s gotta be worth bonus points, right?
I’m a little late with the final results but it doesn’t matter. In what many would consider a rout, the winner is:
Guinness
It was actually a come from behind victory, at one point Yuengling let 9 to 5. The final score was 18 to 10. I have tried some of the beers the past few weeks and will try some more this summer. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to try a Yuengling, it is not available here on the left coast. Thanks to all those that participated and have a cold one on me.
Ugh, IMHO, Guinness is the most overrated beer on the market today. It’s a good beer, don’t get me wrong, but there are a dozen better stouts made in New Mexico alone.

If you want some I could mail you some. I’m not an hour and a half from Pottsville.
That is, of course, if I’m allowed to mail it to you and you want it that badly.
