Being a butt-calling racist is not conducive for employment

Angry Papa John’s customer posts delivery man’s racist voicemail online

Synoposis: Black dude gives a pizza delivery guy a $5 tip on a $15.26 tab.

The delivery guy butt-calls the dude in the middle of a colorful tirade about the tip. And by colorful, I mean very racist and ignorant.

Dude records all of it so that we and Papa John’s management can share in the yucks.

Delivery guy and his laugh-along coworker have been fired.

My question is how much are white people tipping?? $5 dollars seems like decent tip to me, but maybe I’m just a silly negro. I know there is a stereotype about black folk and maybe there’s some truth to it (personally I always tip and tip generously, as do all the black folk I know well). But in this case, this is some fracklenackle bull!

I almost feel sorry for dickwad delivery guy. Maybe if his greedy asshole of an employer had actually paid him a decent wage, a $5 tip wouldn’t be such a slap to his precious little face. Too bad he didn’t direct his ire in a more productive manner.

Wow if white people are tipping more than $5 on a $15 tab I am a sad sad specimen of white people. I’d tip $2 MAYBE $3 on that.

$15.26 pizza? I round up to $20.

Yeah, I’d probably say fuck it, let’s do 20.

Delivery guy is a moron.

Another white guy who’d give him a $20 and say keep the change.

I don’t think the customer tipped. The call goes, “Did he tip you?” “Nope, not at all.” I’m guessing the reference to $5 was that someone who gave him $5 would be a fine representative of the African-American community or something.

I think myself as at least a half decent tipping honky.

Let me put it this way. 5 dollars on a 15 dollar pizza? If I was the victim of that butt call I wouldn’t be mad that he basically called me a cheap NEGRO but that he called me a CHEAP negro if you know what I mean.

Unless he delivered it 50 miles in a blizzard or something.

Geez, AskthePizzaGuy? had a thread here recently. He said about HALF the people didn’t tip ANYTHING. Even on LARGE orders.

By comparison a 30 percent tip is right up there with free hookers and blow.

Oh, so maybe the guy didn’t tip anything? Well glad he got a butthurt butt call then.

I can’t listen from work, but I can’t believe even an ignorant racist would complain about a 33% tip.

Having worked in pizza, I think he just wasn’t tipped. And I’ve heard a lot of racist rants in the pizza business, although never this bad and never this stupid.

Well, white guys tip around 100%.

But it’s still about $5, because we get the secret pizza prices for white people.

I typically tip $3 on a standard pizza delivery. More if they’re delivering a lot of stuff…but just a pizza…typically $3. If $5 is considered a lousy tip, then I guess I’m a horrible tipper. I figure tipping 20% is a pretty decent tip, frankly. Especially since I’m paying $2 for a delivery fee already from Papa Johns.

Yes you are. For $15 I’d give the guy a $50 and tell him to keep the change because I am a good white person.

White guy: I’d give him a $20. I usually tip 4-5 bucks, but during hurricane Sandy, when I realized there wasn’t much to eat in the house, I tipped like Diamond Jim to the pizza guy.

Only a 233% tip??? What year are you living in? Good white people in 2013 tip by handing out spare debit/credit cards with PINs on sticky notes. Get with the program, Drunky!

Sanford, Florida? :dubious:

I’d tip three bucks if I had small bills…probably just “keep the change” if I was paying with a $20.

My pizza delivering experiences didn’t show me any rock-solid stereotypes along racial lines, but most definitely along economic lines:

Poor people - tip like champs; they are the “$15? Here’s $20, keep the change,” folks.
Rich people - tight as vices; they are the, “where’s my change; you get paid hourly, don’t you?” people.

More proof that white people suck at math.

In another version of the article, the customer supposedly showed (reporters?) a copy of the receipt with 21%.

It is my understanding that pizza tipping is not even necessarily percentage based. Just throw a couple of bucks on and increase depending on if more pizzas, drinks, breadsticks, etc. are ordered.

Don’t forget old people and foreigners. Gotta pry a tip out of those bastards with a crowbar.

Same here. I can safely say that I never heard anyone ranting about a black customer who tipped him.

You don’t think they got rich by just giving money away, do you?

But yeah, in my experience the best tippers are those in/just out of food service. They know what you’re going through.
