Being a guest on late night TV for the MMP

If you have time to kill and are the kind of person who’s OK with watching little drips and dabs of money slowly add up (and if you’re thinking about using recycling $ to augment your budget, I guess you are … I know I am!) then just FYI, I signed up with Amazon’s Mechanical Turk recently. The idea is you do little manual jobs that just require a human’s eyeballs/judgement skills – I do them while watching TV. I figure, I’m sitting around on my butt in front of “Mad Men” anyway, I might as well earn a few cents here and there.

It really is “cents” (you’re not gonna strike it rich or anything) but it’s kind of fun to see the pennies add up, in an adult version of a piggy bank sort of way, and the tasks are easy-peasy things you can do while listening to music, sitting on hold on the phone, etc.

ARRR! There be women aboard!

It took you this long to notice? :stuck_out_tongue:

Soup 'n cornbread has been ingested. 'Twas nummy.

Three day weekend. Life is good.

Hey, I’ve been busy battnin’ down hatches, shivering timbers, and making obnoxious people walk the plank.
Gimme a break! :dubious:

We went out for Chinese food. Now we’re home. I’m going to recline.

MWAH!

Of all the mumpers, you’d be the last one I’d expect that comment from. Just sayin’

Cool.
(I’ve never seen an underwater keyboard before. :p)

You may.
Very soon.

Where the* hell* did I leave that damn plank?

dammit.

Well batten them down again. That will teach those dirty hatches!!!

(Sorry - Bugs Bunny flashback. But I’m feeling much better now)

Home from the game. Canes lost, but we had a good tailgate.

{{{{Midget}}}}

swampy, I made bacon cheddar cornbread for the tailgate. GMTA(us, too)

I am trying to conceive what a “tail gate” would be for things that I enjoy. Der Ring Das Neibelung: Wine and cheese in the back seat of the camry.
Model rocketry: Beer and cigarettes behind the nearest building between launches.
Killifish meeting or trade: Beer and cheeseburgers.
Coral trading: Telling lies about marine aquariums.

Dammit, find the plank, you dogs, or I’ll eat your livers!

With fava beans, and a nice chianti?:dubious:

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

So if a bunch of knitters tail-gated, they’d have spaghetti eaten with chopsticks??

Goodbye Girl was on Turner Classics last night. I lurves me some Richard Dreyfuss! Plus I’ve now got a total of 7 crocheted hearts. I’ll make one more in the lightest pink, then start embroidering the “conversations” on them.

I’m also going to make a couple of larger hearts and stitch them together to make a purse for a little girl. My MIL used to give my daughter presents for Valentine’s Day - maybe someone around here would do the same. We shall see.

Onward! Happy Saturday!

Blurf.

Went out for dinner to nice veggie restaurant last night, to celebrate friend’s bufdy/leaving do. Was goood.

Finally got clarification from Dodgy Boss- the silly quantity of my personal info he requested is not going to be sent anywhere, despite what he previously implied, it’s just a requirement that he has it on file, which is fair enough. No idea why he didn’t just tell me that in the first place though…

Anyway, I have an informal interview later- I’m not sure if it’s actually for a sales job though, which I’m not gonna do- sales on commission is my personal idea of hell.

I might try that mechanical Turk thing Horseshoe, even a little but of extra cash would come in handy right now. I’m having to spend Christmas money on rent, and I have a massive list of other things (like clothes) that I really could do with getting. January is a rotten month for irk.

I did get some fun stuff though- my shiny new smoker arrived yesterday- that is, a smoker for bees, not like Moooom just got.

Anyway, better go purtify just in case this ‘interview’ isn’t a scam.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 32 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 63 for the day. Not too shabby, especially since it’s gonna be sunny.

Today I shall assist JDD with the delivery of a recliner to the nursin’ home for his mother. He’d mentioned he was gettin’ one for her. The one she used when she was still in her home is kinda beat up and shabby so he was goin’ to buy her a new small recliner. I have one in the guest bedroom that’s never been used, so I told him to just use that one instead of buyin’ one. Heck, the thing, though several years old, is kinda brand new bein’ as nobody has ever sat in it to my knowledge. Thus, we shall deliver it to her at some point today, probably later this mornin’. He has a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig suv and it should fit in there no problem.

This evenin’ JDD and Partner are comin’ over to belatedly celebrate OYKW’s bday. We shall dine upon steak, twice baked N.O.T., sallit, and cheesey bread. Plus, OYKW finally gets his bday ice cream cake. He has not whined about touchin’ it even though he knows it’s in da freezer.

Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, who knows. I may go ahead and purtify or go back to bed. It’s all up in the air.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

ETA: nuts what do smoked bees taste like? :stuck_out_tongue:

The flavor is nothing to write home about, but it will give you a nice buzz.

OW! That was awful, Moooom, Brava.

I almost forgot. Blurf.

BADUMBISH!

JDD will be over in a bit. We’ll load up the recliner and take it to its new home. Tell me I don’t know how to have an excitatin’ Sattidy!

Well, that was fun! I’d noticed a big ol’ oak branch that had fallen in the side yard. We gathered that and a few others and **FCD **fired up his chain saw. We got a nice little pile of logs plus some good kindling. He’s got a fire going in the basement and I stacked the wood on the rack outside the basement door. We’ll need to go into the woods in search of more fallen hardwood. There’s tons of pine, but we don’t like to burn that since we’re none too keen on chimney fires.

Yesterday I was post-hole diggin’ in 28°, today I was lumberjackin’ in 28°. C’mon spring!!!

Happy Saturday!

It’s a whopping 8 degrees below zero outside and only going up to 36. Tomorrow will be in the 40s.

Only thing on the agenda today is irk.
