Wait, I see a pattern in mine. I scored high in religions which believe in one God, medium in those that use several (or saints to get to the One), and low in the nutjob areas (sorry Taoists, I don’t know why it put that as similar to Tom Cruise-ism). Well, at least it’s a pattern that makes a little sense. Maybe.
I’m a fucking Quaker? Shit. Pass me the fucking oatmeal, Jebediah.
Gee. Am I the only one who got 102% on Cthulhuism?
- Eastern Orthodox (100%)
- Roman Catholic (100%)
tomndebb-
What question do you think kicked you over the 100% mark?
I also turned out 100% Unitarian. Which would be fine execpt it’s my mother who’s the practicing (“practicing”?) Unitarian! God damnit. You’re supposed to rebel against your parents. Is it too late to join the 700 Club?
As a confirmed Apatheist, I was a little taken aback at how many questions had an answer of “there is no god, or I don’t know, or I don’t care” as those three answers are very different and I dislike being lumped in with the judgemental Atheists or the sad little confused Agnostics. That being said, how could I answer no god, or don’t know, or don’t care on every question and still get 93% moderate to liberal xian? And Nontheist (a lazy lump together designation) at a mere 74%? And Secular Humanist at 99%? Feh, I’m a Social Darwinist.
I’m a UU…and on the bottom of the list, the clambake that my family is all in, is dead last; catholic.
YAY!
Every time I hit “Submit” I get hit by lightning. Is that normal?
- Unitarian Universalism (100%)
- Secular Humanism (98%)
… and at the bottom:
-
Islam (11%)
-
Orthodox Judaism (11%)
-
Roman Catholic (11%)
-
Hinduism (6%)
Doesn’t surprise me that I scored at the bottom of 4 rather large religious belief systems.
During college, I took an aptitude/ preference test and for religion I scored at the zeroth percentile.
100% Secular Humanist, my lowest was Roman Catholicism, at 11%.
Same here.
My #2 religion, at 83%, was “Liberal Quakers” followed by Ba’hai Faith at 80% and UU at 74%.
I don’t have the patience to sit through that test again, but I believe I scored highest as a Liberal Quaker when I took it a year or two ago. Although sonce then I’ve kind of gotten a little impatient with most kind of spirituality, which also kind of explains my lack of interest in sitting through it now.
The last couple of times I took it, my top two were UU and neo-pagan. Seeing as I’m a somewhat-pagan UU I couldn’t really argue with it.
My top five (and the only ones higher than 70%:
- Secular Humanism (100%)
- Unitarian Universalism (97%)
- Liberal Quakers (83%)
- Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (77%)
- Nontheist (73%)
Do they count “Nontheist” as equivalent to “Atheist”?
100% mainline to liberal Protestant Christian, it says. That surprises me a little. What is shocking is that I am about half way (52%) to Scientology. The 82% Liberal Quaker makes some sense if only because that is where the paternal side of the family was until the late 19th Century when they started marring Canadians and got hooked up with Church of England types. It’s nice to know that my somewhat skeptical view of the God Head is amenable to some organized religion. What I clearly need is “The Church of You Only Go Around Once.”
Okay, I did a little more reading on their definitions and they define Nontheists as:
Personally, if I was making my own list based on their definitions I’d make myself:
- Secular Humanism
- Nontheist
- Unitarian Universalism
- Liberal Quakers
-
Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants
I don’t see how they could possibly put me as any kind of Christian Prostestant, as I answered all of the questions on belief in God, Heaven/the Afterlife, the origins of the universe, the source of Evil in the world, etc… as an atheist would (i.e. do not believe/Not applicable/etc…)
Well, this skeptical-born-into-a-Lutheran family, is now considered a Reformed Jew.
Works for me!
100% Secular Humanist, 99% UU, 89% Quaker, liberal Protestant 84% (!).
I identify as secular humanist or atheist when asked, so there you go.
Came out pretty close. I’m a Roman Catholic by avocation, but I do have some aspects of the religion I want changed. (Hey, I’m an American - certain Protestant ideas are so close to the fore because of culture it’s not exactly surprising.)
I scored highest for Mainline to Liberal Protestant Christian at 100%, but Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox at 91%.
I’ll accept it as a reasonable test.
Well, they got it right…100% Islam.
