Bering Sea Gold (TV show)

Watched this in years past. Somewhat interesting. Going through a pile of currently taped episodes now. Each 1 hour show takes about 8 minutes to watch when you fast forward the deliberately staged screaming matches among or between the various crews.

I do love Mike Rowes voice overs though. A very distinctive voice.

I think it’s interesting the girl who really wants to sing opera for a living. Emily Riedel. Very cute too but her dad seems pretty nutty. She went to school here at the NC school of the arts for her BA degree. I guess gold pays better than opera.

IMO this applies pretty much to all of those types of shows on those types of channels.

A couple of minutes of the pix of whatever exotic locale or job are kinda cool, but rest of these shows are a monument to how little effort a production company can put into a product and still draw a large audience. Appalling IMO.

If somehow Congress passed a law that any given frame of vid could be shown no more than once per episode including all the leaders & trailers, that alone would shrink a 1-hour show to about 20 minutes running time.

Do they make regular references in this show to “glory holes”? If so, I remember seeing highlights of the show on The Soup with Joel McHale.

Glory holes was on the first season of Gold Rush which is regular gold mining. After season 1 they obviously told the old guy not to say that any more.

The old man and his son have appeared over the last couple of years on a Gold Rush spinoff. They are diving in a mountain stream fishing for nuggets wherever there’s a mini waterfall. The dialogue in this one takes about 60 seconds “I KNOW there’s a pile of gold under this ledge”. Lather, rinse and repeat ad nauseum.

That’s a different old guy, I meant the Hoffman old guy was saying glory hole. The guy on now mining in streams is part of the Dakota boys.
