Best 10 Movies of 2007 that you *missed*

Similar to this thread, but basing it on the critics’ rankings of the Best Films of the Year (compiling their year-end Top 10 lists) and not on the Box Office leaders. What were the 10 best movies of last year that you never caught? Mine:

  1. 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days (hasn’t opened theatrically yet)
  2. I’m Not There (probably this week or next, before it disappears)
  3. Persepolis (opens tomorrow)
  4. No End in Sight
  5. Syndromes and a Century
  6. Sicko
  7. Offside
  8. Lake of Fire
  9. Southland Tales (only played one week here)
  10. Breach
  1. Diving Bell
  2. Atonement
  3. Away From Here
  4. Jesse James
  5. 4 months
  6. Sweeny Todd
  7. I’m Not There
  8. Michael Clayton
  9. Eastern Promises
  10. The Lives Of Others

I’m astounded that Zodiac is 3 and Once is 5. Boring, boring, and more boring.

Well, out of the top 20, I have only seen Zodiac and The Bourne Ultimatum. Although, there are quite a few others on my list to see, just haven’t watched them yet. I do most of my movie watching on DVD.

Of ALL the movies on that list, I only saw Ratatouille

(How sad is that?)

Well, this is easy. Everything after No Country for Old Men.

Actually, of the ten following NCfOM, I’ll definitely be seeing There Will be Blood, Atonement, Ratatouille, and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

Of he top fifty, I’ve so far seen (gulp) three, so I’m pretty sad too, just not quite as sad as ASAKMOTSD.

  1. The Lives of Others
  2. Persepolis (seeing it this weekend)
  3. Syndromes and a Century
  4. Killer of Sheep
  5. Black Book (meant to see it, never got around to it)
  6. The King of Kong (missed the screening)
  7. Offside (don’t know this one)
  8. Lake of Fire
  9. Southland Tales (doesn’t interest me, but I might watch it when it’s free on demand)
  10. 12:08 East of Bucharest (Missed this one, I think)

Edit: I saw lives of others at TIFF (Toronto Film Fest) September of '06. So We can drop that from the list and add 28 Weeks Later which is #53.
