I will be travelling with my SO to Paris for a couple of weeks in September. We will be on a tight budget and are looking for budget accomodations that do not compromise TOO much in terms of privacy, comfort, convenience, location etc. We would like a double room with bathroom in a location convenient to Metro all for less than 60 Euros. Is this possible?
What hotel tips can the seasoned Dopers offer?
Thanks in advance!

Centrally located (left bank).
Nice staff. (Foreign, nicer than many Parisians.) (Go ahead, flame me if you want. I lived there. It’s my experience.)
Clean.
It’s where I’ve stayed in recent years.
(Well there’s also the “famous” Henri IV, where I’ve been known to stay when totally broke, but I wouldn’t recommend it.)
I don’t know how keen you would be on this idea, but you could try a hostel. Most seem to have the communal bathroom thing happening, but if you look around on the net a bit, you can find ones that have single, double or twin rooms, private bathrooms and are fairly comfy. The room size might be a little small but you’re really only going to be there for the night anyway. Most hostels are in pretty convenient areas, almost always near a metro station. Hostels also usually offer breakfast (even if it’s just cereal, hey free meal) and have things like the internet, laundry, a bar on site. If you look hard enough you can find hostels that sound just as good, if not better than a hotel.
Just a suggestion if you can’t find anything else. Most hotels seem to be well over the 60 mark so that could be your last resort. Good luck and have fun on your trip!
