I bought a couple of things from a local (NYC) best buy on Saturday. Later that night I saw a charge in my account from IN-HOME GOLF. At first I thought someone got a hold of my account information but the amount of $ and time of purchase were the same as the best buy receipt. Does anybody know why this happened? Is something up?
most likely just an error in the credit card database system. Don’t think it’s anything to worry about but keep a close eye on your account just in case. You could dispute the charge if you want. If you dispute it you might get a refund if they cannot prove you were at that place. It’s possible other people had the same error and in that case they will likely not refund your cash.
It’s not just you. I am guessing that Visa just reassigned a merchant account number to New York Best Buy stores from a golf simulator company.
Ah, good find!
Just went around and around with my bank regarding a charge that said in home golf. It was from Best Buy. Wasted several hours trying to figure this out.
Best Buy and many other places now sell things from other sources. So you may get some odd names popping up, as the billing actually sources to them. I dealt with a place that actually warned me that the billing would have a totally different name. Then I forgot and wondered what the hell?
I have a local Taco Bell that when you pay with credit or debit card it will always come up online/statement that it’s “Southern Bells” which always confuses the bell out of me.
Since Taco Bell is a franchise, I’d guess that’s the name the owners of the local branch use?
