Best Dipped In or Covered in Chocolate

Poll to follow . . .

Feel free to consider yourself at a candy shop or seated in front of a fondue bowl or any other “add chocolate” scenario.

I meant to include a vote for other–Toffee, as in a Heath candy bar, but clicked too soon.

My favorite is the simple salted peanut/dark chocolate cluster.

Angel food cake.

Very close friends.

Argh! Toffee shouldn’t have needed to fall under “Other”. Sorry! Don’t know how that slipped.

I thought I clicked crickets, but it’s not showing in the results. I would say all the insects listed would be at their best in chocolate, and better if you leave out the insects. I wouldn’t eat espresso beans if they were dipped in the Fountain of Youth. I don’t know if Rachel Leigh Cook tastes better dipped in chocolate, but I’m guessing she does.

Ranier cherries, dipped in dark, in your own kitchen.

Is this poll about what your favorite is or what is most improved by adding chocolate? My answers would vary greatly.

When I was a kid, the local Sears store had an actual candy counter and my favorite thing from there was coconut haystacks. Basically it’s a lump of shredded coconut covered in chocolate., or a messier Mounds bar. I think even then I recognized that this was excessively sweet.

OMG, Dewey Finn: I remember Sears stores with the candy counter - what a treat and such a great childhood memory!

All of the above, but I really like pomegranate lately. Very addictive.

I’m going to treat the poll as a to-do list, as I haven’t tried most of these.

I recently tried a chocolate-covered orange slice in San Francisco. The orange slice was candied (I think?) and had a very satisfying chewy texture. Not like other candied fruit I’ve had, which has been much drier.

Whatever it was, it was good. Expensive, though.

Fresh Pineapple!

All of the above.

Vanilla ice cream.

But three poll options are still at zero. You’ve neglected pistachios, dates, Oxford commas, and jalapenos!

I wouldn’t say my intent was “what is most improved by chocolate”, I was thinking more “what + chocolate = the best paring”. Like, a person might prefer cherries to strawberries, but think that strawberries and chocolate make for a better pairing than cherries and chocolate- not that the strawberry is improved by the chocolate, but that the pairing works well.

Since this comes down to personal taste, I’d say “favorite” comes closer to my intent than “most improved”.

Me too! I have very fond memories of going there as a kid and my parents getting me a quarter-pound of malted milk balls. It didn’t happen very often (we didn’t go to Sears often because it wasn’t at the mall closest to our house) but those were the best malt balls ever! Perfect combination of yummy chocolate and just the right amount of fluffy malt filling.

Mmm…now I want some!

Cock-late.

I voted for:

Other MISCELLANEOUS not mentioned

Graham Crackers
Bananas

and
Malted Milk Balls
