I have pretty bad teeth, I’ve been and still go to the dentist and they are fixed as much as possible, but they are still in a pretty bad shape, compared to before. As you can guess, eating is the least favorite part of my day, especially if it is something that is hard to chew.
I don’t remember the last time I ate an apple and potato chips are also pretty uncomfortable to eat. So, what could I blend in the blender and at least use as a bonus to the regular food? Especially stuff that has proteins.
Peanut butter has a nice amount of proteins and calories, so I’ll try that, but what else, what about healthy bisquits? (Not bisquits actually, they are round, the thing I am referring to is just a ,rectangle" that doesn’t have a lot of sugar like bisquits, but can even be salty)
Look up some nice soup recipes. Then, when they’re ready to serve, put them in the blender if necessary.
Throughout much of Africa, the basis for meat stews is peanuts, bananas and unsweetened cocoa. They blend together into a very nice sauce, and they like it spicy.
Definitely soups and stews. Also, braised meats (which can cross over into stew territory, or not, based on your preference) can be ultra soft. A slow cooker or electric pressure cooker can help but isn’t necessary.
Beans and lentils. Red or black beans and rice is an easy recipe to start with, and East Indian (for one) food has many variants on this. Refried beans are super easy to make from scratch.
Then you’ve got all your egg dishes. Ever try shakshuka? That’s eggs baked in a spicy tomato sauce, simple and nice for dinner, maybe with some rice or noodles.
Anyway, those are some examples to get started with that may not need blending.
For turning soups and stews into a bisque or just something easily eaten, buy yourself a stick blender, similar to this one. They are far more efficient than the ordinary blender and you can do the job right in the soup pot, without transferring everything to another vessel. Look at reviews carefully before buying.
Also, a good dish for this is an African peanut/yam stew.
I read a recipe today for beetroot ‘hummus’ comprised of equal parts roasted beetroot and butter beans blended, plus lemon juice. I’d think ‘hummus’ would need garlic too though.
I have that same stick blender, and can attest that it makes awesome smoothies. I usually include peanut butter, a banana, some ice, in a glass of almond milk. I’ll add a scoop of Slim-Fast if I have it. Yumm.
Also, if you are looking for ease of chewability, you cannot beat a Crock Pot or other slow cooker. Anything you cook that way will barely need chewing at all: pot roasts, pork chops, Italian sausages, chicken breasts, old tennis shoes; all come out like butter.
(okay, I’m kidding about the tennis shoes, but it would probably work)
