I wonder how many hits the title of this post is going to draw in. Heh. Underwear works wonders.
I need to make a very frilly pair of underwear for our school’s production of South Pacific. Billis, a macho-macho SeaBee, makes a pair of shorts for Nellie, one of the main characters.
Here http://sairai.tripod.com/images/swatches.jpg is the link to the swatches of the fabric I’m going to end up using. The top one is dark blue watered silk, the kind that the silk shirts that were wildly popular in the early nineties were made of. The middle one is a magenta silk-esque fabric with a paisley pattern woven in it. The bottom one is a dark green plaid with lots of shiny gold threads woven into it. The lace off to the side is what the multitudes of ruffles across the seat of the pants and the legholes will be trimmed with.
So, folks, which is the funniest choice for a pair of ladies’ shorts made by a sailor? Which would make you laugh hardest?
Yeah, do they make flat sheets of licorice?
And, alas, your link does not work (for me, at least). I know that drawers were most often made of flannel or linen. But, the paisley sounds funniest to me.
I’m going with the paisley, as it is very bright magenta. Along with a ton of white lace ruffles, it should be tres funny. Although, a pair of invisible underwear should raise some eyebrows.
