Best frozen burritos. Any suggestions?

I hate going out in bad weather. Especially cold weather. Burritos in the freezer are a nice option when I don’t want to cook.

Any really good brands that I should look for? I’ve been buying Tina’s at Kroger.

Bean and cheese is one of my favorites. Beef and bean is ok, but seems like the frozen ones aren’t as good.

Microwave or oven? Is there ever a reason to mess with the oven for a frozen burrito?

This bean & rice burrito recipe from Martha Stewart sounds tasty. Freeze them up and eat later.

I like Amy’s frozen burritos, the southwestern that has corn masa in it is my favorite, and they have some bean/cheese/rice/veggie ones that are good too.

They’re not really burritos, but I do like Taquitos.

Las Campanas are the ones for me. Dozen in a bag; take two out and put them on a plate, nuke them 2:30, spoon a couple tablespoons of hot salsa over them and sprinkle grated cheddar, then give them another minute. Mmm!

Looking for the ‘best’ frozen burrito is like citing vintage years of RC cola.

I like Cedarlane Burritos, which we get from Costco.

Came to recommend these. Tasty.

No Costco near me. I’m going to check at Sams. Maybe they’ll carry the same brands.

Old el Paso just came out with a line of frozen Mexican food. It’s a little pricy but I think they taste better than any other brand of frozen burrito. I have tried most of the different brands, these are the best IMO. They also have quasidias and enchiladas. I haven’t tried those but they are in my freezer.

Depending on whether or not you like to cook in big batches, it’s pretty easy to make and freeze your own burritos. I’d advise against using previously frozen meat. Anyway, wrap the burritos in paper towels and lay them on a cookie sheet to freeze. Then put them in a ziploc bag and press as much air as possible from the bag, and you’ve got long term storage. When you want one, just grab it and nuke it still in its paper towel.

Here’s a recipe that sounds pretty good: Freezer Burritos Recipe: How to Make It , though I’d use refried beans rather than whole pintos.

I usually use the smaller (about six inch) tortillas, as they heat more evenly.

I think they might only be a local L.A. thing, but the best frozen burrito I’ve had is Ramona’s. Googling them just now, I learned that they are a small restaurant chain. I’ve only seen the frozen burritos at 7-Eleven.

My husband only eats Patio frozen burritos. Our Jewel and Dominick’s has them.

Thanks for the burrito suggestions. They are a guilty pleasure from my college days. Bean burritos got me through some tough classes. A bit gassy but oh so tasty.

I don’t eat them as often now, but every week or two I still enjoy one. For some reason, I like the frozen ones better than what Taco Bell sells.

If you don’t like going out in the cold, couldn’t you have Amazon deliver your burritos along with your monthly shipments of soup?

I buy the El Monterey variety at our local Costco.

They’re tasty and they’re one of my strategies for a $1.00 lunch option.

I’m not sure how to evaluate whether they’re the the “best” though. Frozen burritos are in the same class as Ramen noodles in my mind. They are what they are. It’s like that book review that says (to paraphrase): “If this is the kind of thing you like, then this is the kind of thing you will like.”
