Best I'm-gonna-die-and-I-know-it moment and/or words in movies

I was literally about to post this. Only foiled by not finding a YouTube link of just this line

Though I was going to say I thought this was the most bad arse amazing line ever uttered when I watch this movie as a kid. I’ve not rewatched as an adult it may be less impressive (I know the special effects have not stood the rest of time, base on the clip I just watched)

You beat me to this. Slim Pickens played the sheriff and he was gut shot on the right side where your liver is, and walked down to sit by the river to die. His wife, who he called Mama, followed him but let him sit on his own. The unspoken words of these two was real acting. All while “Knock, Knocking on Heavens Door was playing”. A song written by Bob Dylan specifically for this scene.

Bob wrote the entire sound track and had a small part in the movie.I do not know why this movie isn’t more popular, had a great cast. Slim was not just a rodeo clown.

Knockin on Heaven’s Door - Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid

Gene Hackman as sheriff Little Bill just before he gets shot by Clint Eastwood as William Munny in Unforgiven.
“I’ll see you in hell William Munny.”

“I know now why you cry — but it’s something I can never do.”

-The Terminator

“Shut the fuck up, Walter. Let me die in peace.”

Mike Ehrmantraut - Breaking Bad

“All right, you alien assholes! In the words of my generation - UP YOOOOOURRRRRRSSSSSSS!”

I thought it might be. In a movie, it’s badass. In real life it’s even more ballsy.

“Get a shuttle ready. I shall assume full responsibility for losing them, and apologize to Lord Vader. Meanwhile, continue to scan the area.”

Michael Culver, as Captain Needa in The Empire Strikes Back.

“You were right, Luke. You were right about me. Tell your sister, you were right.”

In The Rings of Power, Durin III armors up and leaps with his sword right into the face of the Balrog. All matter-of-factly. He knew he was doomed but doggone if that would stop him going into single combat. It’s the bleak Norse mentality of “We’re doomed, so the only thing to do is go out fighting” that Tolkien knew so well. He culture-coded the Dwarves as Norse.

“now, if that’s a fact, tell me, am I lying? 'Cause you, you’re part eggplant.”

VeggieTales!

Dennis Hopper, in True Romance.

Darn it, I wanted to quote that one. I got sidetracked watching the YouTube clip of that scene.

Speaking as a real Sicilian, not a movie one, that is all kinds of messed up.

Also no one has mentioned Joe Pesci in Goodfellas? It’s a very quick “I’m gonna die” (just for a second when he realizes the room he is meant to be Made in is empty)!but surely one of the best

“You can’t win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.”

It’s notable because of calm and quiet Obi Wan is that he has accepted his fate even while dueling with Vader.

“I happen to believe in a life after this one, and I know I’ll have to answer for what I’ve done. And I think I can.”

General Ripper, Dr. Strangelove

“I guess I’ll just take a hot bath.”

Frankie Pantangelo, The Godfather Part II about to commit the ritual suicide Romans allowed traitors

It was over in one second. “Oh n—”

Chief Dan George’s character says this near the end of Little Big Man as he lay down to die. Problem: A raindrop hits him in the face, he curses and gets up and walks away with Dustin Hoffman. So not actually last. In the movie it’s supposed to be an old tribal expression used, for example, before going into battle.
