Best. Marriage Proposal. Ever.

That’s not in and of itself evidence that it was fake. He might well have gotten Disney to accommodate him in his insanity.

The multiple camera angles and perfect audio, with no visible wireless mics, makes the whole thing pretty suspect. In fact, I’d say everything about it screams ‘bogus’ to me, with the sole exception of the girl’s reactions. If she was in on it she played her role pretty well. There was no noticeable “acting” to her acting.

Too well choreographed, too well shot, too well mixed audio-wise. Unless the guy is some major player in the Disney organization- which I guess is possible- it was too well produced to be legitimate.

Come on, the whole concept behind this is that these are Disney employees who have experience doing this sort of thing, with Disney approval and support. I have no idea if it was a real proposal or not, but it’s clear this is an “inside job”. I have friends who do the weekly “Rocky Horror Picture Show” stage show in Boston and they could pull off something like this (except for the filming) so why not?

Here’s another video of the “proposal”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cu7_G55dcw

At about 3:30 in the video linked to in the OP, the wheelchair lady hands the guy the megaphone, which he takes by the handle and presents to the girl by the handle.

At about 1:00 in the video I linked, the wheelchair lady hands the guy the megaphone, which he takes by the small end and presents to the girl, still holding it by the small end.

You couldn’t have rehearsals including the girl, so the video I linked isn’t a rehearsal. Perhaps they did another take after the first time, but if they did would the girl’s actions all be the exact same in both takes? She’s not supposed to have a routine like the rest of the performers.

Faker than the fakest thing ever.

The kicker for me is the fact that each time she tries to answer he is not paying attention to her. He’s not waiting for an answer, he’s setting up the next move.

She’s a good actress though, and does look really surprised. If you watch it with the sound off it’s not nearly as convincing.

Disney officials have already confirmed it’s an extended viral commercial.

that’s enough right there. Sure, the guy could have gotten Disney to let someone on the roof. And if he’s an actor, maybe he even has a friend with professional gear, rather than a consumer camcorder. But he’s not going to have three more friends with pro gear, who all miraculously get perfectly framed close ups from ground level, through a crowd, without being visible to the proposee.

Well, that makes sense. As always, I believe you, but:

Cite?

Wow, am I the only one who thought it would have been cool if it had been real? Not because I’m a big Disney person or anything – I’m not – but if someone had actually gone to that much work to do a proposal for me, I would have been impressed. A lot of work, a lot of thought, a lot of planning, and it was very well-done.

Here you go.

I am totally unsurprised. As others have said, the multiple camera angles are a giveaway, as is the fact that everybody involved is fully miked for sound.

Now that that’s out of the way, which is worse for the sanctity of marriage: this video or gay marriage?

But what if you didn’t want to marry him?

I don’t think the “fake” question was ever in regards to “was it staged?” of course it was staged.* But “was the girl in on it?” That appears to be the case too.
*As a mere observer of this tasteless phenomenon/One has to admire the stage management
