The final year. Lots of good choices, but I’m going with St. Vincent, with D’Angelo and Angel Olsen close behind.
I love the St. Vincent record, but the Sturgill Simpson record is my real favorite.
Gave my vote to Taylor Swift.
Yeah, I enjoyed both of these. St. Vincent wins for me - I have a guitar/Bowie crush on her, big time.
Looks like I have research to do. St. Vincent and Taylor Swift are the only two artists I am familiar with here. (OK, I know Spoon, but not that album. The rest are complete blanks to me.)
Oh dear. The War on Drugs and Sharon Van Etten put out two of my favorite albums not just of 2014, but of the last several years. TWoD got more attention, so I’m voting for SvE in the hope that y’all will check her out.
I ended up voting for St. Vincent. I almost went for Flying Lotus, but peer pressure pushed me away. I also liked Lost in the Dream although it sounds a bit like it could have been released in the 80s.
All the critics seem to love Run the Jewels, be seriously I don’t get it. I haven’t been able to listen to any track of theirs to the end. I’m often the one trying to explain difficult music to others but for once, I’m the one who needs an explanation. What so great about Run the Jewels?
Voted for Taylor Swift. That’s sooo weird. I should be ashamed. But I’m not.
Voted for Ex Hex. I loved that album.
