There was a tie for 2012, so there are 6 options for the poll. Between MBV and St. Vincent for me - still trying to decide.
Voted for Adele but don’t care either way.
Well, hopefully some people who do care will vote before I put up the final “Best of All Time” poll tomorrow because - no offense to Adele or her fans - her album is easily the weakest on this list.
The only one I’ve heard more than one or two songs from is Kendrick Lamar’s, and it’s pretty good (astute wordplay, cool jazzy sounds alternating with harder stuff), so I guess I’ll have to go with that.
m b v is a strong album, but… choosing it as best album of the 10s feels so very wrong and sad. It would be like choosing a rockabilly album for the 70s, or a psychedelic album for the 80s.
So I ended up going for St. Vincent because it’s pretty good, and it feels, I don’t know, more right.
I went with mbv here, since Loveless was not available on the “Best of the 90s” poll. It’s forward looking enough that I could place it in the 2010s if I heard it, 2000s at the earliest. And it is my favorite album of the ones listed.
