Was the first ever comedy music CD ever released (1985)
Was gonna include the song When Eggs Fry, parody of When Doves Cry, but Prince didn’t have a sense of humor about it (just like he blocked 1999 from being in Polkas on 45)
Contains a newly recorded version of Yoda, which was written over 5 years ago and was planned for the first album, but had so many legal hoops to jump through that it took that long to get everyone’s approval. I personally hate the version on this album (even though I love the song itself), and greatly prefer the accordion-led version, which is the one they perform live.
Nominated for best comedy grammy, but lost to Bill Cosby.
Contains Al’s only album-released straight cover
State of Shock, Sharp Dressed Man, What’s Love Got To Do With It, Method of Modern Love, Owner of a Lonely Heart, We’re Not Gonna Take It, 99 Luft Balloons, Footloose, The Reflex, Metal Health, Relax
This is a tough one. Dare To Be Stupid and Like A Surgeon are both excellent representatives of a style parody and a specific song parody. One More Minute is also really good.
Ultimately, though, I have to go with This Is The Life, because one, it’s a fun song, and two, it’s the theme to Johnny Dangerously. And that’s awesome.
Dare to be Stupid gets the nod, being on The Transformers The Movie soundtrack gets it one extra point, just enough to nudge it past Like a Surgeon, Yoda, One More Minute, I Wanna New Duck, Slime Creatures From Outer Space, Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch, and Cable TV.
