Best "Weird Al" Yankovic Song - OFFICIAL POLL!

This will be a FORCED CHOICE Poll.
Many people here often grumble about being forced into one choice in these kinds of polls, but there’s no other way to ensure that everyone votes for the same number of choices. If one voter makes three choices and another voter only makes one choice the results end up being skewed.

I have included every song that received THREE or more nominations in the pre-poll nominations Thread.

Additionally, I included every song that received 10 or more votes in fusoya series of polls which broke it down to favorite song by album. What is the best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s debut album?
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s In 3-D
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Dare To Be Stupid
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Polka Party
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s UHF (And Other Stuff)
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Even Worse
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Off The Deep End
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Alapalooza
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Bad Hair Day
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Running With Scissors
Best song on Weird Al Yankovic’s Poodle Hat

And, additionally, I included all of my own nominations even if they didn’t reach a total of three nominations because when you make the Thread you can pull stunts like that.

There is not “Hey, You Forgot!” option since we preceded this Thread with the nominations Thread.

Happy Voting!!!

Polls have to go in IMHO, I believe…

Bohemian Polka

I like a lot of Weird Al songs, but “The Saga Begins” is the only one for me that when the melody of “American Pie” starts playing, the Weird Al lyrics come to mind ahead of the Don McLean ones.

For that reason, I chose it- I figure it has to be one of his best if it replaces the original in my mind.

But, since this is a musical poll, Cafe Society is a perfectly cromulent place for it. They’re permitted here, too.

I voted for “Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies” because of Mark Knopfler on the guitar and the awesome video.

“Eat It” was the first of Weird Al’s songs I ever heard and it’s still the best.

Genius In France. Not only is it great as a Weird Al song, it is also a hell of a tribute to Frank Zappa.

Well, at least you included my favorite, even if I’m the only one who voted for it.

My favorite Weird Al is when he parodies someone’s style with an original work, like “I’ll Sue Ya.” For this reason - and it’s frequent replay by me - I went with “Dare To Be Stupid.” I think it was a couple of listens before I realized it wasn’t a Devo song.

A poll for best WAY video might get different results. One More Minute is my favorite song; however the Amish Paradise video is great especially when you consider that the backward walking is NOT just the video in reverse. Al actually walked that way.

“Yo, man, ding-dong, man, ding-dong, man, yo!”

“Another one rides the bus” came out when I was making hour plus each way bus rides to college. It was the theme song of my life back then. I think this was never released. I had taped it off a Dr. Demento show where he performed it live.

I think this was his first appearance on national TV. "Weird Al" Yankovic - Another One Rides the Bus - YouTube

That was way more difficult than I thought it would be.

and I can’t believe I’m the only person that liked “Trapped in the Drive-thru
philistines :frowning:

I was gonna vote for “I like Small Butts”. :frowning:

Okay, so to be the best, I believed it had to be one of his original creations. The parodies are great, and they are his bread and butter, but his true genius is in his original works. The one original song that sticks in my head is “One More Minute”. I have never been laughing so hard while simultaneously totally grossed out as when i first heard the line

“I’d rather clean all the bathrooms
in Grand Central Station
with my tongue
than spend one more minute with you.”

Pure Genius.

It was released on his first album, along with “Ricky,” “My Bologna,” and “I’ll Be Mellow When I’m Dead,” among others.

I voted for “Dare to Be Stupid”. It’s a note-perfect Devo parody that even Mark Mothersbaugh loves, and it strikes me as a perfect encapsulation of Al’s own manic style and sense of humour as well.

The first minute of this video shows Mothersbaugh’s reaction.

I voted Christmas At Ground Zero, but actually I was thinking of
The night Santa went crazy, so you can ignore that one.

I’m a little surprised at all the love for “Amish Paradise”. I mean, I like it but . . .
And the top 5 so far are all parodies. I agree with tonyfop, I’d like to see one of the originals take home the top prize.

Would Genius In France count as original? He didn’t parody any of Zappa’s songs-he just imitated the different styles of music Zappa was best known for.
