Best Song On "Who's Next"?

Because we don’t have nearly enough of these threads yet, what’s your favorite song from the best album of one of the greatest British bands of all time?

Yeaaaaah!
No contest.

Though Baba O’Riley, Behind Blue Eyes and Bargain are all better songs than most bands manage in their whole careers.

All I know is…Who’s Next is the PERFECT Friday album. Used to listen to it every Friday on the drive to work and back…and what was cool is that I usually went out on Friday nights, and “Won’t Get Fooled Again” was perfect for going out at night!

Man, that’s an awesome album.

Baba ORiley is in my top ten, ever. Might be number one, since anything in any top ten of mine is going to be so good I can’t compare it to the other 9 anyway.

“Won’t Get Fooled Again” is a great song, but since it’s way overplayed, these days I prefer “Bargain.”

I voted “Won’t Get Fooled Again” but there’s not a bad song in the bunch.

I can get the shivers just listening to ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ in my head.

What a perfect song.
mmm

Scream, schmeam…“Behind Blue Eyes” wins it handily.

I’m surprised I’m the first to go with “Love Ain’t for Keeping”.

Simple chords, simple sentiments…but I love it.

I’m an air conditioned gypsy…Goin’ Mobile. If you have a chance, get a copy of the “Classic Albums” DVD for Who’s Next. There’s a segment where Bob Pridden is at the mixing board talking about Going Mobile. He isolates the tracks, and it sounds really amazing.

Oops, missed the edit window…

Actually, my favorite song from the Who’s Next sessions (and included on the re-issues) is Baby Don’t You Do It, with Leslie West sharing guitar duties.

Great album. “Won’t Get Fooled Again” wins by a scream.

Fantastic song; I almost voted for it myself. A real emotional powerhouse. It’s the album’s secret weapon. But it’s too slight. At barely over two minutes, it feels like it stopped as soon as it began…

Indeed. And I know what it’s like to be the bad man.

I…I…I…just…can’t…choose!!!

It’s tough to choose best song from TOMMY, the Who’s actual best album!

I agree it’s a great song. But I had to go with: Don’t cry…Don’t raise your eye…It’s only teenage wasteland…Keith Moon drumming

VH1 (I think) did a 1 hour show on the making of this album, it’s was very well done. For those that don’t know these songs were supposed to be part of a much bigger project called Lifehouse.

My brother and I traveled from Kansas City to London in 2000 to see the live performance of Lifehouse at Sadler’s Well’s. At first, he just wanted to get tickets as a keepsake. Eventually I found a great round-trip price and he decided to go. But he couldn’t get time off.

He wound up working all day Friday, flying to Chicago Friday afternoon, meeting me there, flying to London on a nearly empty Virgin 747 and sleeping on the plane, seeing the show Saturday night, sleeping in a cheesy hotel, flying out Sunday morning, dropping me off in Chicago and him back to work Monday morning.

It was a great concert.
