Best suit around $300?

And take them out before you send the shirt to be laundered or before you wash and iron it yourself. Otherwise the heat from the dryer will make them a permanent part of the shirt.

May I ask why? I agree with everything else you wrote, but this I don’t get.

Cayuga, this thread is 9 months old and was bumped by a spammer; participants may not be around to respond to your questions. Or they may be – just giving you a heads up.

Thank goodness you didn’t recommend seersucker (or nearsucker…depending on your price range)!

If it’s for the same reason I do, then it’s to make a barrier between your shirt and your sweat. It prolongs the life of the shirt (and the suit), prevents underarm dampness, and on really bad days can prevent b.o. from spreading (because even with deodorant a heat wave can make you fragrant).

The pockets are sewed up but I always unpick mine and shove things in there all the time, be careful though with heavy things.

FYI I have been wearing suits for 30 years.

Some of my better suits also unbutton at the cuffs but this is uncommon.

Look everyone has said the basics get a blue or charcoal suit, a tie that is conservative and some DECENT shoes. Damn the number of people who stuff up suits with big chunky soles on their shoes or worse white shoes WTF?

Make sure your top button on your shirt is not to tight!

Don’t wear white socks, basically you are trying to blend into an environment and given the area you are looking at this will be very conservative.

Never have worn and undershirt, makes me hot and uncomfortable and adds another layer of fabric to my body.

An undershirt shows off that your white shirt is actually white and not slightly dingy and old looking. Dress shirts are just slightly translucent. A white undershirt just makes the dress shirt look better. I can always tell when I man is wearing one. It just looks better.

My boys and husband wear undershirts under their white dress shirts. It just is part of the uniform.

And keeps your nipples from showing. (Not a joke- really does happen, especially when it’s hot, and even if the guy has nice pecs they don’t look good through a dress shirt.)

Preach it, Sampiro. Prominent nipples (or worse, nipple hair. eugh.) are really not a good look for a suit. Or for any look on a guy, really.

Not even naked. Get out those pasties, boys!

Damn, your casual Fridays must be a lot more casual than ours.

Anyone here ever try an online made-to-measure site like Indochino? I’m a big/overweight guy, and the stuff at Men’s Wearhouse simply doesn’t fit me right (and places like JCP don’t carry large enough sizes), so I’m wondering how the M2M stuff works.

I have used J Hilburn and Blank Label. Of the two, I liked the J Hilburn clothes better. For your first order, a tailor visits you in your home and takes your measurements. After that, you can just order directly from their site. I ordered some shirts from J Hilburn that are just amazing. I’m also overweight and their clothes fit great.

You can mail in your favorite shirt to Blank Lable and they’ll make a copy. I sent them one of the J Hilburn shirts, but the Blank Label copy just doesn’t compare, it doesn’t fit nearly as well and you can tell the difference in quality between the two. Blank Labels stuff is not much better that what I get off the rack, but I always get compliments on the J Hilburn clothes.
