There must be a problem with the boards. The first sentence says Old Milwaukee, then the second sentence says something about great beer. They’re completely unrelated.
KEYSTONE…without a doubt!
Comes in Premium,Ice & unleaded. $5.00 a 12-pack @ Savons
18 packs are sometimes available, usually in the Keystone Light choice.
Made by Coors…It is Coors! Same exact Can, I tricked a buddy of mine who
will only drink Coors,he could’nt tell the difference.
I’m gonna have to second Ralph124c on the Blatz - that’s our fridge beer. (You know, the beer you always have some of in the back of the fridge to offer guests when they show up unexpected). $8 a case here in Madison.
My other cheap beer of choice is PBR these days - the bar down the street does $1 PBR and $5 giant pitchers, so that’s a good choice when I’m thirsty and poor. (thankfully that doesn’t happen much anymore)
I have to second Yuengling as the best moderately priced beer. I love it, and constantly mourn the fact that I can’t get it in the midwest. Or at least here in Mad Town.
Yeah, gotta agree–I LOVE getting PBR POUNDERS. Wicked cheap and good.
PABST BLUE RIBBON. No question in my mind.
But for a few dollars more (and still not bank-breaking), Killian’s Red is VERY good.
Milwakee’s Best (Miller cheap brand)
“Best be good!”
Whoever said Miller High Life… Amen to that! I like Miller High Life.
er… I meant “Milwaukee’s Best”
I’ll definitely have to agree. But I prefer the Black & Tan over the lager.
Adam
I can’t find it anywhere in Chicago, but Tuborg used to be real cheap and pretty good.
It was New Years day in the sea side bar
there was a special on PBR ,
the ocean roared outside the door
I sing that song with every round.
I agree. Coors Light is my light beer of choice and when I was running low on money my last semester in college I switched to Keystone Light. I couldn’t tell the difference.
Just want to add another vote for PBR, be it in pounder or 30 pack form.
I can get a 30 of PBR for $9.99
I also drink Rolling Rock, but only in bottles, and only with a shot of whiskey kicker.
I can get Bass Ale for $10.99/12 pack. I consider that cheap. And it’s certainly good beer.
I agree with Alessan. Quality beats quantity when it comes to beer every time. If you’re looking for a buzz, grap some cheap vodka or rum, the kind that comes in a plastic bottle, and some coke. You’ll get way more bang for your buck. However, if you’re going to drink the Nectar of the Gods, that sweet, sweet, Milk of Barley, then spring for the good stuff. If the label says “made with the finest grains and rice”, but it back on the shelf.
Another vote for Miller High Life here.
The first weekend after we moved to Phoenix, we went to the grocery store to stock up on necessities. Upon entering the Albertson’s, we came upon a huge sign that read, “Miller High Life – 12pk Bottles, $3.99.”
So I compared it to Pepsi. Which was $4.29 for a 12-pack of cans.
Good times, good times.
Here in Baltimore the best cheap beer is National Bohemian (Natty Bo). It used to be local but is made in Milwaukee now. About $5.50 a 12-pack and drinkable. PBR will do in a pinch. Rolling Rock was a favorite in college, put is too pricey here to count as a “cheap” beer. ~$6 a six-pack.
Of course, the best beer is what I brew myself. Dark as night and thick as sin. Mmmm.
Good, cheap beer is an oxymoron. But I still stuff the fridge with Tecate and Busch when I want suds with the game, or something to wash my pizza down with.
Lonestar or Keystone. Its hard to get a hangover from them due to fact its mostly water.
Boy Howdy!
Ah, Tuborg , I just recently overindulged in this beer in Norway & Denmark (since it is Danish). It’s a pretty common in Denmark, used to compete with Carlsburg, until it bought them. But anyway, I got sick of it after awhile. But it was the cheapest reasonable tasting beer in Norway. The only stuff cheaper was store brands, which I found very, very odd. Store brand beer. Mmmm! Never tried it though, too scared.
HAMMS
$7.69 a half-rack. No tax.
