Rolling Rock used to be a regional cheap beer, like Genny, Iron City, Narragansett, and all the others I love (perhaps RR was a hair better quality, but not that different). Somehow, in an amazing display of marketing skill, they became an expensive yuppie beer, like Heineken. Good, but no longer cheap.
Labatt’s used to be our beer of choice in upstate NY – years ago, but under $10 for a case, and much better than Schlitz.
 When did the one eyed bartender and all of his buddies head to Wisconsin? Stupid me, I thought Natty Boh was still the pride of Bawlmer.
My vote for cheap hops would be Carling Black Label.
[slight hijack]We had a soda machine at the firehouse years ago with various beers-all bottom shelf cheap. Esslingers, Gibbons, Schaefer, Ballantine, Carling- whatever was on sale at the distributor. At 35¢ per can, you didn’t gripe, either.

Not sure about the actual price, but it’s a cheep student-beer; a bottle of ice-cold Corona with a lime slice (in the neck, optional) is beautiful when you’re lazing back in a pub mid-summer. Very refreshing. And
Moreso when you’re supposed to be at college.
Oh, and I’ve heard (dont actually know) that it’s one of the cheepest beers to produce, too. Anyone got the dope on that?
