What were the best single epsiodes of television that first aired (or dropped, or streamed) this year? I’m looking for single episodes that really stood out of both the great and not so great shows of the year. Any genre goes - scripted, news, reality, variety, whatever. Any delivery method goes. Just looking for the top hours of TV.
Poll to follow on Sunday.
From 11/1/15, the fifth episode of season 2 of "The Leftovers"
"No Room at the Inn": Matt takes his wife outside Miracle to seek answers about her condition but struggles to keep her safe from desperate tourists outside the town’s gates.
Another excellent episode featuring a tremendous performance by Christopher Eccleston as Matt Jamison.
There may be a lot of The Leftovers episodes on this list ;).
"Ten Thirteen" is probably my favorite of the lot (“International Assassin” is pretty amazing too). Liv Tyler was utterly frightening in the episode and another fantastic performance by Christopher Eccleston.
Adding my own nominations -
The Americans: Do Mail Robots Dream of Electric Sheep. Outstanding writing. Great performances by the regulars, especially Keri Russell, and guest actress Lois Smith.
Review: Happiness, Pillow Fight, Imaginary Friend - The entire season was great, but this episode in particular stood out.
Inside Amy Schumer: 12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer - The episode is a dead on parody of the movie “12 Angry Men,” a commentary on the way women in entertainment are judged, and really, really funny.
Better Call Saul: Five-O - How Mike started to become Mike.
