Shoulda been a poll, then we could have seen “Eartha Kitt or nothing” stretch across the screen. The Pussycat Dolls with Carmen Electra are are fun to watch, and they do keep the beat when they sing along. Someone here favors their local all male dance troupe sing and dancing to it, and if I like The Pussycat Dolls, I can’t say the male revue is wrong. How ever when a guy sings it, and plays it straight, “Think of all the girlies that I didn’t kiss …” – then no, just no.
I’m saving the poll for the "What is the second-best version of “Santa Baby” thread.
I like Madonna’s version; she really plays up that Marilyn Monroe bit. Kitt does nothing for me. Not even on Batman. There, I said it!
Did Shatner cover it? If so, that one.
Otherwise: Eartha Kitt, of course.
I agree with burpo. Madonna’s is my fave.

Wow, 11 posts in and no one had mentioned how rapey they think It is. I’m surprised and pleased. BTW, Eartha Kitt gets my vote.
I don’t really like the song, but EVERY woman who has recorded it since Eartha Kitt has been TRYING vainly to replicate what Eartha did perfectly the first time.
Well, that’s because it isn’t rapey. That’s “Baby It’s Cold Outside” you’re thinking of. Santa Baby is just a Material Girl, spoiled princess song.

I only know one version and I don’t know who sung it. I figure it was from the 80s, and used in a commercial or something. It’s very vivid in my mind but the names I see listed don’t match, and I am not sifting through multiple versions to find it.
Her from No Doubt whose name escapes me has done a version for her Christmas album this year. It’s OK, but it’s no Eartha Kitt.
A woman expressing her own sexuality isn’t “rapey”. That thinking is how we got to the mess we’re in now.
