I know what exactly what songs I want on the album-the problem is that I don’t know which version of each song I want! Each one has several popular versions, so help me choose which versions to record. If you have one that you think I should add, please do so, but ONLY after you make your submissions for the list I already have. The songs are:
Frosty The Snowman
Baby It’s Cold Outside
White Christmas
The Christmas Song
Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Please Come Home For Christmas
Santa Baby (I think this one’s going to be hot-pun intended)
Tom Jones whenever possible (unless Louis Armstrong is available, which is often).
Could you be a bit more specific, please?
Oh, and no I Saw Daddy Kissing Santa Claus -type parodies, please.
Springsteen’s version of Santa Clause is coming to town , of course.
And you’ll want to add Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s I believe in father christmas .
Eartha Kitt’s version of Santa Baby is the only one worth considering.
The Roches do an amusing version of *Frosty the Snowman *that I’ve always enjoyed.
Bing Crosby is the definitive White Christmas .
Darlene Love for Christmas Baby Please Come Home .
Lots of good version of Baby it’s Cold Outside . I like the Louis Jordon version.

I like your first choice, but for possible additions I’m looking for standards that are popular enough to be covered by various singers.
I’ve got a Brian Setzer Christmas CD where he does a version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” with (I think) Ann-Margaret that is pretty good.
For other songs not on your list, I’m partial to Harry Connick Jr’s versions of “Sleigh Ride” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.”
Baby It’s Cold Outside - Johnny Mercer and Margaret Whiting. Unless you can find the original movie version.
Frosty the Snowman - The Ventures.
Louis Armstrong reading “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. Seriously awesome.
i suppose that means you don’t want the barking dog versions of the songs either?
What about the ones already mentioned in the OP-any favorites?
I like the 8-track version of those songs…because I don’t have an 8-track player.
Now I know what to get you for xmas!
You do, and I’m putting you on the Fruitcake Of The Month list.

I’m adding two and you can’t stop me:
Christmas Time is Here , the David Benoit version.
Hey Santa Claus , The Moonglows
Maybe on your Christmas album, but the theme for this one is popular songs with multiple covers, not just Christmas faves, so only the David Benoit cover counts.
For a bit of Christmas subversion I think you need to mix in a few Bob Rivers versions:
It’s the most fattening time of the year (It’s the most wonderful time of the year) and Yellow Snow, Yellow Snow, Yellow Snow (Let it snow)

Parodies and the like are already off the list.
