I was impressed, too, though I wasn’t entirely clear on why the 3rd Man thought bringing the dog into each of those homes was his best option. Was he counting on the dog to warn him (with a low whine or something) if someone approached the front door from the outside…??

I’m still curious about that as well. I have to assume it’s more than just to add a bit of flair. As it stands, nothing at all would be different without the dog, at least not that I can think of.
With details like that, I always think back to the bear in the Sopranos. I figured it was just a random bear, but someone pointed out that the production crew had to find a bear they could rent, pay to rent the bear, train the bear to do what they needed it to do, have bear wranglers on the set and so on. They aren’t going to go through all that just to say the audience can say ‘look, it’s a bear’.

If it wasn’t pointed out to me to begin with, the bear in the backyard would have just been another event that I would have taken at face value and never given another thought to.

Somebody picked the location. Somebody put a bird feeder in that spot and filled it with seed. Somebody went out and rented a bear and hired its trainer. Somebody set up the camera and lights and microphones.

@Little_Nemo I still think about that somewhat regularly. As someone that doesn’t pick up on symbolism unless it’s really rubbed in my face, I usually don’t catch it.
