I was going to respond to drewtwo99 , but others have already written better responses than I could have.
Aw heck, I’ll vent anyway.
I’ll just say that my opinion is as valid as his. And my opinion is that the ending - no matter how well planned - was awful. A disservice to the characters and the viewers. And in terms of the Barney/Robin & Robin/Ted storylines, poorly executed. Threw Barney under the bus. Threw viewers who were sick of the Robin-Ted waffling under the bus. I hated it. Your mileage may vary.
oh and I liked it better as a comedy, than a dramedy or whatever this episode was. (though I didn’t mind the episodes around Marshall’s father’s death; handled better)
In writing about the finale in the other thread, I realized that that the best title for the show would have been “How I Met the MacGuffin.”

and then begins again because you know Ted and the Village Bicycle are not going to last more than a few months before Robin’s job and travel and Ted’s wishy-washyness cause any connection between them to fall apart again as usual, but only after he has put his kids and Marshal and Lily through an emotional hell and destroyed any remaining friendship with Barney.
