"How I Met Your Mother" Season Finale (You bet there's spoilers)

I WIN!

And Ted apparently is going to douche-out after all. Bad Ted! Bad!

Was anybody actually surprised that the bride turned out to be Robin?

I don’t win? :frowning:

So, Ted doesn’t end up with Victoria, but he does ruin her wedding day to someone else? That doesn’t seem right.

The AV Club write-up of the episode pointed out this line, which I thought was funny:
Robin: That was not cool, Ted!
Lily: Contraction!
Robin: That wasn’t cool, Ted?

NO…the wedding scene is the one we were introduced to at the begining of this season…it is Barney’s weeding, and while Ted was talking to Barney, Lily comes in and tells Ted, “The Bride wants to see you” The whole point of this season was to find out who was goign to be Barney’s bride…but we know from the “Robins Kids” episode that she doesn’t get married , unless that episode was a lie…

But it is looking like Buttercup (Victoria) and Lando Calrissian (Ted) aregonna end up together.

Which will make fans (like me) SQUEE! with delight.

I think not. He’s supposed to meet the mother at Barney’s wedding, and he already knows Victoria.

We do? I thought all that episode revealed was that she was unable to have kids.

For a moment, I thought Barney’s wife was going to be Victoria.*

Victoria isn’t the mom, because she doesn’t fit the clues (she wasn’t Rachel Bilson’s roomate, she wasn’t** in the class Ted accidentally taught, etc)

Brian

  • In the sense of “They aren’t going to make the wife Victoria are they???”
** at least I’m pretty sure of it

Right. Ted never said anything about her not marrying. Just that she never had kids.

I fully expect that next season will feature Ted engineering a reconciliation between Victoria and her fiancee, which will somehow also lead to Barney and Robin getting back together, which will in turn allow him to meet his future wife at their wedding. The whole “everything that happens ultimately leads to Ted meeting the Mother” thing, which they’d gotten away from lately, is coming back, I think.

I also hope next season will be the last. I really like this show, but it’s time.

They had another throw back when Lilly dove into the car after stealing the 6 pack with the ‘I would walk 500 miles’ song.

I am kind of surprised at Ted riding off into the sunset like that. I thought he was going to take her back to the wedding.

CBS renewed it for 2 more seasons, I believe.

It was never said he met the bride at Barney’s wedding…it was only ever said he met the bride at A wedding. We never met Rachel Bilsons roommate, who’s to say Victoria wasn’t living there then. And remember, The wife was in the class he went to on his first day of teaching, a business class and a 101 class that had 200 students in a giant lecture hall. Victoria has studied business in her desire to become a business owner. I have been saying since season one that Buttercup is the mom

That’s not the way I remember it. I remember Ted saying he met the mother at Barney’s wedding.

That was last year, they are set through next season. I believe the show’s creators, and maybe cast, have expressed a plan to end the show at the end of next season. Can’t find a cite to back that up though.

Scratch that. It was renewed for 2 seasons last year. So Season 8 is the last contracted season… right now.

That completely ignores the entire conceit of the show. If Victoria was the mom, the kids would have up and walked away an hour into the story - because he already explained “How I Met Victoria”. The most likely guess at this point is that the mother is Barney’s sister.

Did he meet Victoria at a wedding? I totally don’t remember how they first met.

Yes, she had catered the cake and was there working at a wedding.
