Do you think Marshal and Lily had a bet going on
whether Barney would actually watch their sex tape?
It would make sense to me, but it wasn’t mentioned.

I’m not convinced it WAS a sex tape. I hope Barney buys Ted a DVD player.
Well that was a new low. I fear that a shark is about to be jumped and only the removal of Robin can save it.
Uh, Barney read the bet about him watching the tape. That’s how he knew it existed.
New low? Admittedly, I’ve missed the last few, but this was one of my favorites of the season.
I was just glad for once that I had found a song myself before it was featured on the show (“Shake it Out” by Florence + the Machine). This show has discovered a bunch of good music for me I was happy to be ahead of the curve for once.
I liked it - it wasn’t the funniest ever, but I felt like it finally moved the story forward - we’re in sight of finding out who Barney is marrying (Robin), and we’re getting closer to meeting Ted’s woman.
Just relieved they didn’t stretch out Robin & Ted for longer… I think they were in danger of writing themselves into a corner with that Rooftop Cliffhanger™. Glad they fixed it quickly, and hope they fixed it forever.
'Cause I’d HATE it if the writers said “Ha! Any woman who doesn’t want kids doesn’t REALLY mean it…”
The movie Ted and The Mother are waiting to see in the beginning was “The Wedding Bride III”.
Thought it was an amusing episode. I do kind of wish they’d find something new for Ted to do while he’s treading water waiting to meet The Mother at Barney and Robin’s wedding. He’s already gone through about 40 gf’s at this point, so that’s sort of old.
Maybe give him another architecture related plot, or at least some new non-romantic subplot.
I enjoyed the episode. Pretty funny, and it was nice to see Ted grow up a little, and for Marshall to be honest with Robin when he knew Ted wouldn’t be able to. I enjoyed Marshall and Lily’s long bets. Including when they were talking about it in the car to and from Ted and Stella’s wedding and Barney didn’t hear because he had headphones on and was rocking out.
Also, did anyone else notice the cameo? When Barney was running out of the bar and I think fell over a table
Conan O’Brien was in the background, near the entrance of the bar talking to someone. He can’t exactly blend into the background very well.
I noticed that to. I wonder if he’ll be in a future episode. Seems kind of weird just having him hang out in the background.
Apparently when NPH was on his show he talked about doing a cameo, but he just wanted to be a background extra.
Hah! Oh Ted, you poor sap. I guess he can’t be mad at Tony any longer, since he’s changed Ted’s life so much for the better.
(Maybe Conan’s the new Maury. )
NPH tweet regarding the cameo:
I would have to disagree. By (finally!) shutting the door on Ted and Robin, the shark jump had been put off for a little while longer.
At the end of last week’s episode, I was a little nervous that Fonzie was revving the engine.
Thanks. I obviously missed that one.
It wouldn’t be an SDMB TV show thread without somebody jumping in early to declare it the Worst. Episode. Ever.
It wasn’t the worst, it wasn’t the best. I liked Marshall and Lily’s box o’ bets, I’m glad they dropped the Ted-Loves-Robin thing like a hot rock, and I agree with **Cat Whisperer **that it feels like they’re moving the story forward.
And, I may be a sap, but I really liked the closing scene with the street full of yellow umbrellas.
Not only did it finally end Ted and Robin, but it said that there is no more “I love you” until the mother. So it actually limits the intensity of any other relationships before the mother too.
My prediction spoiler so not a real spoiler in any way, but one just out of courtesy:
But there is a hanging plotline with the stripper and Barney yet. They had to leave it out of this episode to show his angst over Robin, but clearly he was riding the drunk train to find her again and we know that she is intrigued by Barney as well. So we now have a depressed Robin, an in-denial Barney, and a strip club plot line. (bonus points for Robin moving out of Ted’s apartment and needing a place to live/crash.) I think I am going to go out on an limb and say that Barney and Robin have their ultimate love-declaration with Lily’s doppelganger in attendance! And I predict this will happen during the birth day of Lily’s baby. The juxtaposition of birthing and dancing Lily would be awesome.
You may be right. I’d be thrilled if they never dealt with another Ted love/crush/breakup issue. Same with Robin. Show is too damn serious sometimes!
He actually bought the cameo appearance via a charity auction last March.
