At periods of heavy traffic I often find response times to the SDMB are sluggish (thankfully rarely now).
At such times, to get the quickest reponse possible is it better to keep stopping the request and clicking again, ie click, wait a few seconds, stop, click again, or alternatively click and just wait?
Or doesn’t it make any difference to the odds of getting through quickly at all?
I always figure it’s best to just click once and give it time. I usually won’t click again for at least 30 seconds. I drives me nuts when I see my dad trying to click on a link that’s taking a long time to work (on sites other then this) and he just start clicking and clicking and clicking. I finally got him to knock it off when I told him that each time he clicks he starts the waiting period over.
ETA, on the SDMB if the waiting starts to get a bit long, I’ll use that time to right click on on other links and spawn new windows/tabs, so when it finally does show up, I have a few to read. (That and otherwise while I’m waiting I see other intriguing threads and by the time I’m done reading the first one, I won’t remember what the others were).
