Bibleman? The Holy Spirit wants me to tell you: you're a mealymouthed lying troll...

Excellent pitting, if a bit too nice for what BM (the abbreviation is quite well chosen) deserves. I’ve given up, now that the conversation has moved to how many angels dance on the end of a pin, but to save you the pain of reading his posts, let’s just say BM is stupid even for a creationist.

When I read the title, I just wondered how you got onto Bibleman. I mean, I agree that Willie Aames is a giant douche, but I couldn’t see how he’d bothered you so personally.

Now I just have to say, even as someone who often (quietly) disagrees with you: Good Pit.

…Or reasonably intelligent liars either. That’s one of the few reasons that I would support banning someone.

Excellent pitting. You are gifted.

:dubious:

Don’t tell me you never read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy? Zaphod, say it ain’t so!

Mr President? /hijack

Great pitting.

Great Debates is the designated area for witnessing, and it is up to those with the energy to do so to contradict religiosity with fact. I don’t know why one would want to waste their time doing so but there it is.

By which you imply, of course, that they are in fact not the same person.

How about “Not when I’m thinking about you, sweetheart”?

BibleMan?

Danke, though I’m not sure how much meaner I could’ve made it.

Thanks very much. And don’t worry about disagreeing with me. Nobody’s perfect.

Awwwww shucks ma’am. Tweren’t nuthin’
~kicks dirt~

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it.

Well, I do grok that. And although some forms of witnessing certainly get my dander up, most of them wouldn’t earn a response let alone a Pit thread. What really got my goat, though, was the dishonesty and the trolling. Witnessing is one thing, this crap was quite another. YMMV.

Yes, I like it. Let’s pretend I said that.

I did, but I was probably 12 years old. I remember the vague outlines but not the specifics. Thanks for refreshing my memory, though.

Reminds me of a famous non-limerick:

There once were two cats of Kilkenny:
Each thought there was one cat too many -
So they fought and they fit
And they scratched and they bit
'Til, excepting their nails
And the tips of their tails,
Instead of two cats, there weren’t any.

To be fair, tho, the Serpent/Satan/Lucifer thing is a matter of interpretation.
What is the traditional Jewish view of the Serpent’s relationship with Satan?
I know that both Paul & John the Revelator equate them.

Now, I know that Isaiah 14’s “Heylel” (“Lucifer” is the Latin translation given to us by Jerome) is generally considered to be whoever the Babylonian King contemporary with I Isaiah, but the description does seem to go beyond a natural man, just as Ezekiel 28’s lament against the King of Tyre.

None of this negates Bible man’s overreaching arrogance.

Stop being so glib! You don’t know the history of the sun. Bible believers do!

Speaking of overreaching arrogance I don’t think he ever expressed a desire to see non-believers piss their pants on the day of judgement.

Arrogance indeed.

You guys leave Willie Aames alone!

Ha’Satan really hasn’t ever been a big part in Jewish theology, save, perhaps, during the Babylonian exile. At no point in all my religious studies as a teen did the rabbis ever mention that the snake was really any form of demon. Never in any of my conversations with rabbis of any sect have I heard any hint of demonic influence.

There was, of course, a time when Babylonian/Persian myths influenced Jewish thinking, but it wasn’t the case when Genesis was written, nor in later eras.

Sometimes a snake is just a snake

As for Isaiah, it’s generally taken to be representative of Babylonian culture and mythology creeping into traditional Jewish beliefs, as well. And the traditional interpretation is that he’s talking about the Babylonian king and using “prophetic” tropes.

If he could at least be consistent that would be one thing. That he is dishonest and obfuscatory in his arrogance is quite another. IMO.

Very impressive pitting Finn, one of the best I have seen. Makes me glad, I largely stay away from religious debates. Are we allowed to start a pool on the day Bibleman finally gets himself banned? I guess that is really an ATMB question.

Jim

Hi Jim!

I got nothing, just wanted to say “Hi”…

Thanks much. The last handfull of Pittings I’ve started seem to have gone off well. I must be doing something right.

That does seem like a good pool to get in on… I’d wager some time in the next six months, but I don’t know for sure. He seems too dumb to refrain from crossing the line yet again.

Ooooooh, it’s a snaaaake.

::**D&R::

A quality rant, btw.
