That’s what I said weeks ago. The media has decided to promote the “Biden is old and all is lost unless he drops out” narrative because they’re hoping the Democrats will work themselves into a shoot and generate a ratings spectacle.

That’s not quite how I look at voting. One vote is not going to decide Pennsylvania. My vote is an expression of opinion. And what if Biden is even worse in the second debate, and still refuses, Woodrow-Wilson-style, to relinquish office? If sadly so, I’d probably still vote for Biden, but I might have to consider the libertarian.
I definitely will vote for Senator Casey and my Rep. Chrissy Houlahan.

I will be very happy to be wrong about Biden. If he can keep up a string of energetic performances with no more than his baseline gaffes and stutter related malapropisms, along with good attack lines, he may be able to pull it off yet.
Surprisingly good news - his fairly decent hour long news conference, yes with gaffes but also demonstrating his mastery of the material of complex issues, was watched by 21 million. Not debate level viewership but not shabby.
He has to keep this level up though. And he really needs to elevate Harris to a level that people see her as a major role along side him.
Nobody has questioned his ability to read speeches written for him on a teleprompter.
Which he can do, unlike his opponent who can’t even do that witbout going off-script every other sentence, throwing in nonsensical tangents, and mumbling incoherently.
One more point in Biden’s favor!
It seams odd that his party is in disarray so close to the convention. It’s almost like they know something the general public doesn’t.

I prefer a Rose Garden strategy where the incumbent does the job they are being paid for (and then announces what one done today in a brief Rose Garden announcement).
If ever there was a race where campaigning will not help, this is it.

Nobody’s convincing anybody of anything per usual in politics, but I’ll submit anyway that using a teleprompter is not the mindless, passive activity some are making it out to be.
I was curious about people’s experiences using a teleprompter, because I really didn’t know what it was like to be on the other side of the podium. This article helped me visualize the experience … and there seems to something more to it than just verbatim reading from a screen. I guess the worst thing you can say about it is that it’s rehearsed.
Your opponents can always come up with something. Why is he on the campaign trail so early? What is he trying to make us forget?
Biden probably has received thousands of emails from supporters telling him to go out and show he’s still the man he was in 2020. He’s giving campaign contributors what they want.
This is like Woodrow Wilson going on the railroad speaking tour.
