Remember that Biden had, as common with politicians, facial plastic surgery. He is older than he looks. And the campaign has four months more to run. The marathon, not a sprint, metaphor applies. What we write here does not matter, but if his staff were pushing this, it would come close to elder abuse. If he really does “keep this level up”, It is liable to end in tears when he falls apart, exhausting himself doing something this is not part of his job.
The last paragraph would apply even if Biden was one of those lucky eighty one years old who haven’t lost a step mentally.

Actually yeah that is a key part of the discussion. Not simply read a teleprompter but perform well and read the room while doing it. That’s the job to come for four months. News conferences and unscripted interviews, hopefully another debate, also.
I am agnostic to any Daily Mail level claims about plastic surgery or Botox, don’t care in any case. I do agree with @PhillyGuy that campaigning is a physically and mentally demanding slog. I disagree that Biden can avoid doing it, and if he is to be the candidate and succeed, he has to both do it, and do it consistently well. Rallies like this will be the bulk.
That is addition to the somewhat demanding day job he has.
He’s now had a two reassuring performances. Not quite there to reassure from his debate debacle. But at least enough to say: yet?

“The Democratic Party” chose not to have primary debates. It was a chance to sort this out before the convention. Biden’s claim that the voters made him the nominee was hollow.
Because Biden polled over 90% compared to the rest of the field. How many primary debates did the Republicans have in 2020?
It’s highly unlikely that party members were unaware of Biden’s declining mental state. A primary debate would have given people the chance to see it.
