But since the debate, not really.
And the goal posts keep moving.
We are really getting into bizarro cult territory here. If this were President Bernie Sanders in this situation, I would expect this sort of thing. But people are actually constructing a narrative where Joe Biden is some sort of dangerous maverick that the shadowy corporate interests secretly controlling the Democratic Party need to suppress at all costs!
Which newspapers and networks are safe for Democrats?
I said page 1.
I think this needs to be reposted. This is the partial transcript from Biden’s phone conference with House Democrats last weekend, which he showed up half an hour late for and left without taking questions.
“You saw what happened recently in terms of the meeting we had with NATO. I put NATO together,” Biden said.
"Name me a foreign leader who thinks I’m not the most effective leader in the world on foreign policy. Tell me! Tell me who the hell that is! Tell me who put NATO back together!’ he said.
“Tell me who enlarged NATO, tell me who did the Pacific basin! Tell me who did something that you’ve never done with your Bronze Star like my son — and I’m proud of your leadership, but guess what, what’s happening, we’ve got Korea and Japan working together, I put AUKUS together, anyway!” he said.
“Things are in chaos, and I’m bringing some order to it. And again, find me a world leader who’s an ally of ours who doesn’t think I’m the most respected person they’ve ever—” he said.
People who are still trying to make this about “one bad debate” are crossing the border from denial into delusion at this point.
The post I responded to you said:
I showed you that the official position of that paper is the opposite.
You and your goal posts.
If it was on the front page you’d probably ask if it was above the fold. If it was above the fold you’d ask if it was the main headline instead of a sidebar.
The OpEd section of the NYT and other big papers like WSJ and WaPo are very well read and followed. They are not some story buried between the comics section and the classified ads section.
Nope, @DrDeth said in post 1684 that Biden should step down was all over the front page and bad trump news was on pg. 20. Goal psts seem fine to me.
Was the NYT editorial calling for Biden to drop out on the front page?
Please point to the part of what he said that you think is false or proves that he is mentally incompetent, because I don’t see it.
Biden wants to forgive student loan payments and cancel medical debt. You don’t think that makes The Money (including millionaire stock jockey Nancy Pelosi) nervous?
Sure does. An appellate court today put another stay on Biden’s student loan forgiveness.
It’s completely incoherent word salad.
The entire Democratic Party wants to do those things! Those are completely mainstream Democratic positions. They are not going to abandon those just because Biden exits the stage.
But go on, keep telling us how Obama’s picking Biden as VP was all part of a cunning long-term plan to stab him in the back.
“You have a Bronze Star, just like my late son did, and I respect you as much as I respect him, but respectfully, I’ve accomplished a lot more than most people have. I helped make the AUKUS alliance a reality, and just last week I got the leaders of Japan and South Korea to reach an agreement on supporting Ukraine and each other against Russian and Chinese aggression.”
There. It’s not hard. It’s only “word salad” if you choose to ignore the clear meaning of what he’s referring to.
That’s why, instead of attacking the policies, the money is using the media to attack the only presidential candidate with a chance of making it happen.
Dude, add me to the list of folks who’s always liked reading your stuff but you keep repeating this (or some version of it) over and over and over again like it’s a given fact. But it’s not.
To be fair, both sides have consistently used phrases like “obvious” and “clear” without any actual evidence.
You’re doing EXACTLY what the MAGATs do here. You’re translating from gibberish into English and pretending it’s not a problem that the President is speaking gibberish. I think your translation is reasonable, but an uncharitably literal reading would be that he thinks he was the founder of the NATO alliance.
The sentence starts “Tell me”, suggesting that it’s going to be a question, but then it just sort of wanders off. Why is he bringing up anyone’s Bronze Star? Why is the President “proud” of some backbench Representative’s “leadership”?
