Biden & Harris Inauguration Predictions

Trump will be in Moscow on Jan. 20.

This gave me a great idea. Biden should ask Amy Coney Barrett to swear him in. The Trumpers’ heads would explode.

I want a video of him being dragged out. It won’t happen, but I can dream.

My guess is that he’ll open the session, call it to order, and then bow out.

I want them to bait him with a plate of hamberders and Diet Coke and then have it trigger a cage dropping over him like the old Mouse Trap game.
Or I’d like to see him dragged out in a straight jacket foaming at the mouth and screaming obscenities.

  1. No, Trump will not attend. He’ll be having his own pretend tea party (Inauguration) at Mar-a-Lago (assuming he’s not actually banned from living there for violating local ordinances at that point. Pence will probably attend Biden’s real inauguration, if McConnell and Putin tell him to.

  2. I think it’s likely that Biden will thank both Trump and Pence in a pro-forma way, with no superlatives or detail.

  3. As others have said, many ways of accomplishing this. Not really a problem. It will be televised/streamed. But no crowds in the mall.
Which of course will prompt many twitter tirades from the former president. His fake inauguration will have many more in attendance for sure. And it will be a superspreader event that will sicken and even kill many of those present. But Trump does not give a shit about this.

What will he say?

“Let me thank Donald Trump and Mike Pence for their service.”

I think that is about as brief as you can be…

Prediction: Trump throws his own ceremony at Mar-A-Lago called “The REAL inauguration, not the FAKE HUNTER BIDEN INAUGURATION.” He will sell expensive tickets. Many rubes will buy them. He will make a fortune. He will name the imaginary members of his imaginary second cabinet for his imaginary second term. Breitbart will do a thinkpiece on it.

None of this really worries me, but I don’t think you could lose money on a bet that things will get weirder and stupider before they get smarter and normaler.

I keep saying that if we catch his sorry ass in the White House after inauguration, we should just barricade it shut and pump it full of concrete. The building isn’t the office.

  1. Both will attend.
  2. Do presidents usually do this in their inauguration speech? I have no idea. Anyway, I don’t think Biden will thank them personally. I think he will talk about the future and what he wants to do, pretty much ignoring the Trump presidency.
  3. Similar to when Biden has been announcing his nominees. On a stage, with masks, etc.

My prediction: at least one trumpeter/magater will try to kill Biden on stage before he takes the oath of office. At least one will try to kill Harris, too.

My hope is that law enforcement ensures this inauguration is the most secure event in history.

Given the insanity that continues to froth in the right wing media, this seems almost inevitable – if not during the inauguration itself, then soon before or after.

I will bet Trump will not attend. From a psychological perspective, he just can’t ever admit that he lost, and this would be the ultimate admission.

No way he will attend.

1% chance he holes up in his bedroom in the Whitehouse. His secret service detail will be there providing him comfort and the ability to pretend that he is still president. The moment Biden takes the oath, this detail will promptly leave Trump and be replaced with the men whose responsibility it is to remove Trump, and take him out of the Whitehouse in a very private, closed door manner, possibly by sticking him in a car and driving him away.

98% chance Trump will head to his (non) Residence at Mar-a Lago, where he will hold a pretend inauguration. Tweets will be tweeted bragging that he is still officially president.

1% other - something even crazier that I cannot even imagine.

Let’s hope this one comes true, just for the sheer spectacle

Maybe Trump will show up, yell Fake News, and demand Roberts give him the oath of office. You never know

I understand the viewpoint, and would not rule it out. I certainly am not sure he will attend. I’d put it at, oh, a 70% chance. Or so…

  1. If it’s indoors: no - there won’t really be a place for him, and besides, the outgoing President is pretty much expected to leave right after the swearing-in, which is hard to do in an enclosed situation. If it’s outdoors, it depends on where they can put him.

  2. Probably not; is mentioning the outgoing President usually done if he was from the other party?

  3. Keep everybody apart, and probably try to close off the Mall so people don’t gather there to watch.

As for ideas of Trump having a “competing event,” remember the “Freedom Concert” somebody planned to be held at the same time as Trump’s inauguration? Here’s a poster for it, although none of the names listed on it had ever agreed to be in it.

Not a real poster and the whole thing was based on a joking idea from Robert Reich. Nobody ever took this seriously. It was always a tongue-in-cheek joke.

FTR, I thought about this in the context of the usual inauguration event. If this is held inside and he is explicitly invited to attend, I think he’ll be there. If it’s made known that space is limited, I could certainly see him opting out with some bullshit excuse.

The asshole will insist on not masking, in which case I hope the secret service escorts him out. Vigorously.

  1. As others have said, I don’t think his ego will allow Trump to appear. As for the ceremonial meeting at the White House…no chance, except maybe by Pence, who will have to do the duties in lieu of Trump.

    a. Which gives me an idea…if Trump refuses to meet Biden at the White House, any reason Clinton, Bush and Obama with their wives and family couldn’t meet him there–I mean, they have to have security passes for the place…and wouldn’t that chafe ol’Donald’s butt…

  2. Again as above, Biden will work in a compliment for the ‘hard working people of the last administration’ without a single mention of Trump. I’m sure he has his speechwriters working on it now.

  3. I suspect that unlike the Trump Administration, the folks in Washington in charge of the inauguration have been coordinating closely with the Biden team on what is going to be done.

As for the predictions of violence; I predict this will be one of the most heavily patrolled and guarded ceremonies in history, topping even the 1st Obama inauguration. Anybody wanting to start trouble is not going to get the chance, or won’t live long enough to do much. IMHO. YMMV.
