What a great guy, he is not a monster like Trump, putting kids in cages. Amazing how he had acceptable housing built in such a short time.
Can’t wait to see the new facilities that are so much better than the ones Trump used.
This is in the past tense. Your title is in the future tense. Since you didn’t provide any other information, this is my only comment.
Biden administration to house migrant teens at overflow facility in Texas closed under Trump. Google it.
Sorry I left off the /s.
Here’s an article since you’re too lazy to link one in your own damn thread.
So is Biden a monster now?
No, you said so in your own OP. I checked for a /s tag, so I know for sure it wasn’t sarcasm.
Yup,definitely not a monster. He is only following orders.
Do you contend that these include cages, or other unhumanitarian treatment? The article seems to claim otherwise.
“HHS is mindful of these children’s vulnerability, and our priority is the safety and wellbeing of each child in our care. HHS anticipates the need to start placing children at Carrizo Springs in 15 days or soon after,” the agency said in a statement, citing limited capacity due in part to Covid-19.
It also says that the other aspect Trump was criticized for—separating children from their families—will not happen.
A White House spokesperson said that it’s not this administration’s policy to expel children apprehended at the border, a departure from the Trump administration’s posture. “The Border Patrol will continue to transfer unaccompanied children to the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement so they may be properly cared for in appropriate shelters, consistent with their best interest,” the spokesperson said.
So, no, it does not appear like Biden is being a monster like Trump was on this issue. No separating children from their families, and no putting them in inhumane conditions.
You appear to be using bumper sticker politics rather than caring about any of the nuances.
So was there concern for conditions when the 2014 picture was taken of two children sleeping on the floor behind chain link fencing?
I would bet the management would claim yes.
And they’d be right, because the policy then (as now under Biden) was to transfer the unaccompanied children out of those conditions as quickly as possible to reunite them with their families. Not to put the children into those conditions by deliberately separating them from their families, as under Trump.
Emphasis added.
What is the acceptable amount of time for a child to be kept in a cage?
This is the face of the GQP.
There is no acceptable amount of time to keep a child in a cage. That’s why decent governments try to get unaccompanied children OUT of cages and reunited with their families as soon as humanly possible, rather than deliberately taking children away from their families to put them INTO cages.
Yep. It’s like an antebellum slaveholder whining “Oh, you abolitionists are such hypocrites for complaining about our cramped slave quarters, when you’re willing to hide runaway slaves on the Underground Railway in tiny little cubbyholes!” Yeah, asshole, some significant differences you’re glossing over there.
Fuck the GQP. Who are they?
You need to be realistic. If the maximum is zero, then the Biden administration should not use the overflow facilities aka cages.
You and your fellow conservatives/Republicans, aka the “Grand” QAnon Party.
Oh, ok, I was not up to speed on that.
They certainly should have better facilities than cages for unaccompanied children. However, as long as they’re reuniting those unaccompanied children with their families instead of deliberately taking children away from their families, they’re doing a hell of a lot better than the Trump administration.
Agreed. Trump was a Dick because he could.
And if it hadn’t been for Biden voters, Trump would still be inflicting his dickish and cruel family separation policy on children at the border.
Goodness knows the Biden administration is far from perfect, and so was the Obama administration. But at least they weren’t tossing all standards of decent governance out the window just to appeal to a voter base (in every sense of the term) that enjoys seeing immigrant children treated with deliberate cruelty.
