I know that when a poster gets banned for socking, there is no fanfare. Just a Banned:Socking next to their name. But it seems like there has to be at least one other account, the “real” one, also banned. So I wonder who the other unannounced banned poster was. Who was mister mister mister’s other?

Back on topic, Biden appears to be dealing with the problem at the border left to him by the Trump administration as best he can.

I and watching to see what Biden does about the kids at the border. Adult refugee-seekers can just be registered and released to live in the US until their court date. Not so kids, they need to be cared for. The administration claims that the prior administration destroyed the infrastructure needed to do that, and they are scrambling to rebuild.

Agreed. I’m not thrilled with what’s happening but neither am I buying the right-wing bullshit about Biden “opening up the borders to everyone” or “doing the same thing Trump did”. So while I accept that what is happening in the short-term is unavoidable and unpleasant, we’ll have to see what the longer-term plans and actions are to mitigate the current situation.

IIRC we only get notices of the “real” account being banned, and the socks are quietly whisked away to the cornfield.

1. The account is run by a witty, erudite, and civil presence who wants to let his dark, edgy id run free on the boards for a little while.
2. The account is run by a drooling moron who compensates for his intellectual shortcomings by using socks to tee up his deep and important thoughts.

It looks like the Biden admin. has made a deal to house migrant families in hotels:

This doesn’t directly alleviate the unaccompanied minors problem - I guess it’s more concerning families that the admin ordered to stay in Mexico still. I think the administration is still taking the view that that aspect is the bigger humanitarian issue, even though the immigration detention stuff is more of a PR nightmare.
