These debates are about rhetoric and appearance more so than fact or logic. At the moment Biden isn’t sounding or looking as robust as Trump and that’s going to be a problem in the endless snippets that will be cherry picked to support a narrative.
I just tuned in and not being american, I havent heard both speaking recently …
but (sadly) I must say that Trump comes across as “younger and more dynamic” … and I am honestly surprised how frail Biden appears.

He did well with the State of the Union Address and that’s likely due to crib notes that are not allowed in this debate. He’s also as animated as during the Address. If he loses his energy before the end and mumbles it’s going to hurt him.

Well, hopefully all those people talking about how the debates don’t really matter any more are right.
This is a very surreal debate. Trump is coming up with a stream of nonsense, but at least he looks confident, and his articulation is less awkward. Biden seems more emotional and less sure, even if his points are generally better.
Neither is coming across that well - no witty comments, little charisma. Trump looks angry, but Biden looks bewildered and disheartened. Biden needs to smile, slow down, emphasize important points, keep his eyes open and look lively, be folksier. It isn’t easy to respond to a Gish Gallop gush. But Biden knew it was coming, and hasn’t responded that well.
